The first Classic of the British flat racing season will take place at Newmarket this afternoon, as a field of classy colts takes part in the 2023 2000 Guineas at 4:40pm.

Here are four horses who've been well-backed on 2000 Guineas day...

2000 Guineas Day Market Movers - Saturday 6th May

2:15pm Newmarket - Queen Olly 11/1 > 7/1

Having come up short over seven furlongs in the Nell Gwyn Stakes, punters are backing QUEEN OLLY to bounce back to form over this shorter trip, George Boughey's filly placed in several high-profile races as a juvenile and the bookies have been forced to cut Queen Olly into 7/1 during the course of the morning.

3:25pm Newmarket - Dual Identity 10/1 > 15/2

In a race that was dominated by runners drawn on the stands' side, DUAL IDENTITY'S third-place effort in last year's Cambridgeshire has to be market up considerably. William Knight's star has only run once since then, but that hasn't stopped punters from backing Jim Crowley's mount into third-favouritism.

3:40pm Thirsk - Eilean Dubh 10/1 > 13/2

With both trainer and jockey in excellent form, EILEAN DUBH is the pick of the punters in the Thirsk Hunt Cup. Karl Burke's five-year-old won three times in a row over a mile last season and he'll relish this return to better ground, having struggled on heavy in the Lincoln last time out.

4:40pm Newmarket - Chaldean 8/1 > 11/2

Money has arrived for Frankie Dettori's mount in the 2000 Guineas this morning, with CHALDEAN being backed into clear third-favouritism. Andrew Balding's star unseated Dettori at the start on his return to action at Newbury, but punters are clearly expecting a strong showing from Chaldean, who won the Dewhurst on the Rowley Mile back in October.
