Saturday's ITV Racing action in the UK is headlined by the Charlie Hall Chase. Several top-quality chasers will clash in this important Grade Two, and the betting is really starting to hot up.

I've been surprised to see CYRNAME apparently friendless in the Charlie Hall Chase today. Paul Nicholls' star is the highest-rated chaser in the sport. He sits 14-pounds clear of his nearest rival in the weights here at Wetherby, and beat the unbeaten Altior on his first start of the season last year at Ascot.

There are two reasons why Cyrname isn't the odds-on favourite.

First, Wetherby is a left-handed track. I admit, all of Cyrname's best form has come on right-handed turners, but it's been a long while since Nicholls' gelding has run around a lefty, and he's a far better horse now than he was back then.

Secondly, Cyrname has never won over three miles. Harry Cobden's mount has only had one previous start over this trip and was beaten 21-length behind Clan Des Obeaux in the King George.

From the outset that day, Cyrname didn't jump or travel with his usual zest, so it wasn't a surprise to see Clan Des Obeaux come through and retain his crown. Cyrname was still strong enough to beat both Footpad and Aso that day - both of whom are rated higher than anything he faces here - and three miles around a flat track like Wetherby isn't particularly testing.

Vinndication is a high-class chaser and you can see why punters have backed him against Cyrname. Kim Bailey's charge has, however, never won around a left-handed track himself, and his only win outside of novice company came in a Grade Three Handicap at Ascot last season.

Ballyoptic won this race 12 months ago on the back of a run, and I fear Nigel Twiston-Davies' ten-year-old will be in need of this outing. Sam Spinner jumped fences terribly as a novice and this is a big step up in class to anything he faced last season.

Aye Right holds appeal at an each-way price, having finished second to future Old Roan winner Nuts Well on his return to action. Mister Whitaker could be another worth watching further down the betting.

For me, this race is all about Cyrname. On ratings, he should be odds on, so to get a price of 3/1 on the highest-rated chaser in the sport to win a Grade Two, where he carries no Grade One penalty, is a chance I'm not willing to pass up.
