Willie Mullins' record in mares races at Cheltenham is exceptional, and I simply cannot look past ELIMAY in the Mares' Chase.
Elimay has lost just once over fences in her career. With that defeat coming at the hands of Allaho, and we all saw what he did to a top-quality field in the Ryanair Chase yesterday.
Mullins' mare was beaten just three-lengths behind Allaho when they met at Thurles earlier in the season. Elimay followed that up with a superb performance at Naas, where she carried a penalty to victory over Shattered Love in excellent fashion.
Colreevy is a dangerous rival, but she's a novice in with more experienced runners, and all of her form has come on heavy ground. Shattered Love needs the ground to be a lot softer than this. The trip will be a little sharp for Magic Of Light, and the rest have a lot of catching up to do.
Since Allaho's win, Elimay has been slashed into Evens for the Mares' Chase. I had picked her out as my NAP when she was 11/8, but Evens is still a decent price.
