Curragh Tips on May 28th - Four selections on Irish 1000 Guineas day

The third and final day of the Irish Guineas Festival is headlined by the Irish 1000 Guineas. Along with our second Classic of the weekend, Sunday's viewers will take in a fantastic renewal of the Tattersalls Gold Cup, as well as two further pattern races.

Here are our free tips for the four feature races on Irish 1000 Guineas day.

Curragh Tips - Sunday 28th May

Race 3 - Tattersalls Gold Cup Tips

We'll kick off with the race of the day, as three of flat racing's highest-rated horses square off in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

Vadeni won the Coral-Eclipse on quick ground last season and should come on for that disappoiting reappearance in the Prix Ganay. Luxembourg also has to bounce back following a poor showing on his reappearance, but Aidan O'Brien's star does hold the bragging rights over Vadeni, having beaten his French rival in the Irish Champion Stakes last season.

BAY BRIDGE ran very well for a long way on his reappearance in the Prix Ganay, where he was relegated to third in the closing stages by two fast closers, having sat up with the pace throughout. Sir Michael Stoute's star will be much happier on quicker ground and this ten-and-a-half furlong trip seems to be ideal. He'll be my opening selection.

Race 4 - Lanwades Stud Stakes Tips

Joseph O'Brien will run three talented fillies in this Group Two. Honey Girl is two-from-two since making the switch from Henry De Bromhead's yard. Jumbly, meanwhile, will be having her first outing for O'Brien, following her switch from Roger Charlton's operation.

GOLDANA made the switch to Ireland in March, having won a Listed race on her final start in Germany for Peter Schiergen. On her first start for O'Brien, Goldana ran out an impressive winner of the Gladness Stakes over seven furlongs, where she looked like getting outpaced at the two-furlong pole, but found an extra gear in the closing stages to win by almost two lengths.

O'Brien's recruit ran up to an excellent RPR of 113 on her final outing in Germany and replicated that rating on her first start on Irish soil. A similar performance may be enough to win this intruiging contest.

Drumroll dominates this betting heat for Aidan O'Brien, having followed stablemate Paddington home in the Tetrarch Stakes last time out. MISTER MISTER was third that day and I see no reason why Joseph O'Brien can't turn the tables on the favourite.

Dylan Browne McMonagle held Mister Mister up in that Listed contest and still sat some seven lengths adrift of the front-running Drumroll heading into the final three furlongs. Joseph's colt began to pass rivals in the closing stages and crossed the line less than two lengths adrift of the runner-up.

O'Brien ran Mister Mister over nine furlongs as a juvenile, so he's clearly seen as more of a stayer than a miler. I expect he'll relish this step up in trip.
