We take a look at the seven televised races from Newmarket and Market Rasen and provide readers with our ITV Racing tips on Friday 10th July.

Day two at the July Festival is headlined by the Group One Falmouth Stakes. Along with some excellent action on the level at flat racing HQ, National Hunt racing returns to our screens too, with two good races coming to us live on Summer Plate day at Market Rasen.

So, with eight strong races to sink our teeth into, let's get stuck into some tips.

Race 1 – bet365 Handicap Tips

Horses draw low are often favoured in handicaps between six furlongs to a mile on the July Course.
It’s also a track which usually favours prominent runners. However, there’s a clear lack of pace drawn in the single-figure stalls, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Zhui Feng lead the runners down the centre of the track.

Another who likes to get on with things is FOX LEICESTER, who boasts some strong form in-behind the likes of Pogo and Lord North earlier in his career.

Following an impressive win at Sandown last spring, Fox Leicester’s form tailed off spectacularly. Andrew Balding’s four-year-old has been gelded and underwent a wind-operation during the off-season. If those procedures have had the desired effect, he’s perfectly capable of challenging off his current mark of 87.

Race 2 - Summer Handicap Hurdle Tips

A really tricky little handicap to try and figure out, but I’m going to come down on the side of VALENTINO DANCER. Olly Murphy’s charge ran in this race as a four-year-old 12 months ago, and didn’t run badly at all, finishing just outside the places back in fifth.

It’s clear a return to this race has been the plan for Valentino Dancer. Murphy’s charge has only had one outing since then, running up to an RPR of 80 in a competitive handicap on the level at Newmarket. Murphy boasts an excellent record around this track and Valentino Dancer looks capable of improving on last year’s result.

Race 3 - Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes Tips

Time Scale and More Beautiful are obvious dangers, but I was so impressed with DANDALLA’S victory at Royal Ascot, I’m confident Karl Burke’s filly will be able to follow up here.

Having won on her all-weather debut, Dandalla put the field to the sword in the Albany Stakes, flying home down the centre of the track to beat Setarhe and Mother Earth by six lengths. Mother Earth has already boosted the form of that race with a Group Three victory of her own, and Dandalla has already proved she goes well on softer ground. She’s very hard to oppose.

Race 4 – Summer Plate Tips

This looks a high-quality renewal of the Summer Plate, and I’m keen to take a chance on BAGS GROOVE, who missed the entirety of the 2019/20 season through injury.

During his novice campaign over fences, Harry Fry’s nine-year-old won two Grade Twos over two-and-a-half miles. He even gained Grade One experience in big races like the Kauto Star at Kempton, and the Manifesto at Aintree.

Bags Groove has benefitted from extended breaks in the past. He’ll enjoy the good ground at Market Rasen, and he’s done his best work on tight, right-handed tracks like this. If Sean Bowen’s mount is fully fit and ready to go, then an opening handicap mark of just 147 looks very lenient.

Race 5 – bet365 Trophy Tips

Both the returning Sam Cooke and hat-trick seeking Holy Kingdom remain open to further improvement. However, ground conditions could play right into the hands of CHRISTOPHER WOOD, who could be open to plenty of progression off his current flat mark.

Paul Nicholls charge is rated 145 over hurdles, and has won on soft ground on a number of occasions. Christopher Robin ran up to an RPR of 91 when winning on the level at Pontefract last month, and Megan Nicholls' claimer means he'll carry just 8-3 into this competitive handicap. He could be the one to side with.

Race 6 - bet365 Handicap Tips

Another devilishly competitive handicap to try and solve. Although he’s gone up six-pounds for that runner-up effort at Royal Ascot, you get the feeling there’s more to come from Kipps, and he looks a worthy favourite.

Since the rain has settled into the Newmarket turf, money has come for GLOBAL STORM. Charlie Appleby's charge was backed into favouritism for the Golden Gates Handicap at Royal Ascot, but couldn't match Highland Chief for finishing pace and stayed on to finish a close third.

On his final two-year-old start, Global Storm hacked up to win on heavy ground on the Rowley Mile. William Buick was in flying form on the opening day of this meeting yesterday and could be celebrating another big win here.
