Sunday's ITV Racing Tips

Race 1 - Betfred Handicap Tips

I really fancied APLOMB to run well here at Ascot last time out, so I was a little disappointed when William Haggas' charge was beaten by over three lengths. A slow start really hampered his chance that day, and Alpomb had to stay on gamely just to finish fourth.

The handicapper has dropped Tom Marquand's mount another pound at the weights, meaning he'll be running off the same mark he carried to second behind Tinto in last year's Harrogate Water Handicap. A win seems to be just around the corner.

Race 2 - Daily Price Boosts Handicap Tips

PRESIDENTIAL has looked in great nick this season. Roger Fell's six-year-old won on his reappearance over seven furlongs at Doncaster. He then stayed on to finish sixth over a mile in the Silver Royal Hunt Cup, before returning to seven with a narrow defeat at Newmarket two weeks ago.

Ben Curtis' mount still looks very well treated running off 89. Presidential ran well here at York a couple of times in 2018 and looks to be drawn kindly in stall eight.

Race 3 - Fred Pushes Handicap Tips

Having spent 14 months off the track, Ralph Beckett will have been pleased with SAM COOKE'S effort in the bet365 Trophy at Newmarket. Harry Bentley's mount powered into contention from the rear, and looked to be going best with three furlongs to travel, only to tire in the closing stages.

Sam Cooke should come on for that return to action, and dropping back to 12 furlongs seems a very sensible move. If the ground at Ascot softens beyond good, his price will surely plummet.

Race 4 - Dash Handicap Tips

It's been well over a year since GEORGE BOWEN last won, and many of his performances in the interim have been fairly forgettable. They have, however, enabled Richard Fahey's eight-year-old to drop right down to a mark of 87, and George Bowen showed signs of revival with a solid second behind Summerghand at Pontefract last time out.

Barry McHugh's mount will be returning to venue where he usually runs really well, and George Bowen is handicapped well enough to mount another serious challenge on the Knavesmire.

We've seen some wonderful renewals of this Group One at the Curragh in recent years. Sadly, this isn't one of them. I can't see any reason to bet against MAGICAL. The improving Leo De Fury could be worth a punt, but the favourite should be far too good.

Race 6 - Valiant Fillies' Stakes Tips

AGINCOURT ended 2019 with a fine Listed victory at Newmarket. David O'Meara's mare has taken her form to a new level this season, pushing Nazeef all the way to the line in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot, before a respectable finish on her Group One debut in the Falmouth Stakes.

She has a few lengths to find on Billesdon Brook from Newmarket. Yet, the favourite has never seemed to enjoy running here at Ascot, and the best performance of Agincourt's career came at this venue last month. She could claim a second Listed prize under Ryan Moore.

Race 7 - Lyric Fillies Stakes Tips

FRANCONIA bolted up in a Listed fillies race at Newbury on her reappearance, earning short quotes for the Oaks after a resounding success. The runner-up that day was Cabaletta, and Roger Varian's filly boosted Franconia's form by claiming a Listed prize of her own at Newbury last weekend.

John Gosden wisely sidestepped a clash with Love at Epsom, instead targetting a second Listed success with this talented filly. Frankie Dettori travels up to York just to ride Franconia, so her trailer must feel she will have no problem coping with a three-pound penalty.

Race 8 - Princess Margaret Betfred Stakes Tips

Santosha3:40pm Ascot Princess Margaret Betfred Stakes (Group 3) 6fGET 5/1 HERE

Aidan O'Brien will face unlikely competition from David Loughnane in Sunday's main event. Of Loughnane's two runners, I'm going to back SANTOSHA to lower More Beautiful's colours.

Thomas Greatrex's mount has gone off as a 50/1 shot on both her starts so far, but managed to win well at Lingfield before a cracking effort behind Dandallla in the Duchess Of Cambridge. Unlike her main rivals, Santosha has proven she stays six furlongs well, and has done her best work in the final stages on both her outings thus far. She could hand Loughnane his first Group-level success.
