ITV Racing Tips - Monday's tips at Leopardstown, Catterick and Limerick

We take a look at the six ITV races taking place on Monday 28th December

ITV Racing viewers have a third-straight afternoon of action to enjoy on Monday, with the bulk of the action coming to us live from Leopardstown's Christmas Festival. We also have a race each from Catterick and Limerick to take in but, if Limerick's track is still waterlogged, a few extra races from Catterick could be added into the schedule.

We've looked through the betting for each of Monday's ITV races and picked out our best betting tips.

Race 1 - Christmas Hurdle Tips

Three of Ireland's leading contenders for the 2021 Stayers' Hurdle will clash in this thrilling Grade One. Fury Road has already come out and won a Grade Two this season, and Ronald Pump gave Honeysuckle a real fright when storming home for second in the Hatton's Grace Hurdle last time out.

While both hold obvious claims, and the dangerous Bacardys has been overlooked, I'm going to have to side with SIRE DU BERLAIS.

Gordon Elliott's eight-year-old would probably have won the Stayers' Hurdle last year, had he run up to the level he produced when winning his second Pertemps Final under top-weight. Sire Du Berlais was a little workman-like on his reappearance in the Lismullen Hurdle, but he's bound to come on for that run, and stepping up to three miles is a big positive.

Race 2 - Handicap Hurdle Tips

There's going to be a lot of early pace on in this handicap. Stainsby Girl and handicap debutante, Lord Torranaga will likely take them along at a decent lick.

MISS HERITAGE also likes to be up with the gallop, and stayed on gamely to finish just behind Miranda on her latest start at Ludlow. Lucy Wadham's mare drops down in class here, and the softening ground will definitely suit. Miss Heritage bolted up in a bumper here at Catterick, and Danny McMenamin's claimer leaves her carrying just 11-00.

Race 3 - Christmas Handicap Hurdle Tips

20-horse Irish Handicap Hurdles, where just ten pounds separates the majority of the runners, really aren't races I focus on. I'll probably have a little each-way punt on HANDSWORTH - who ran well over this trip at Wexford on his penultimate start, before finishing fifth over three miles last time out - but this won't be a big betting race for me at all.

Race 5 - Tim Duggan Memorial Handicap Chase Tips

The Long Mile E/W2:45pm Limerick Tim Duggan Memorial Handicap Chase (Grade B) 2m4fGET 12/1 HERE

This is another bafflingly tricky puzzle for punters to work out. The top 13 runners can all be found at prices shorter than 12/1. It might pay to wait until the build-up to the race and follow the money, especially if Off You Go comes in for late support.

One who catches my eye, though, is THE LONG MILE, who fell two-out when beaten in a very high-quality handicap at Punchestown on his reappearance. John Dempsey's six-year-old won three times over fences as a novice last season, and I think he looks well-treated running off 133.

Race 6 - Beginners Chase Tips

Despite a terrible performance on his chasing debut, where he made several early mistakes and practically crawled over the line, the bookies are taking no chance with The Big Getaway - who sits prominently in the National Hunt Chase betting. Willie Mullins' charge is definitely a chaser, and you'd be very surprised if he didn't produce an improved display.

However, considering how poor he was first time out, I'm happy to take The Big Getaway on with SEMPO, who unseated Donagh Meyler at the first flight on his chase debut at Naas. The jockeyless Sempo then went on and jumped the second and third fences beautifully, before exiting the track on the second turn.

Sempo showed plenty of promise as a novice hurdler, and stayed on to finish second - two places ahead of The Big Getaway - in a maiden hurdle at this meeting last season. It wasn't a big mistake that caused the unseating at Naas, and I remain confident that Sempo will make a very useful novice chaser for O'Brien to have some fun with this season.
