ITV Racing Tips - Thursday 29th December

Race 1 - Mares' Hurdle Tips

Mares' Hurdle runner-up, Queens Brook won nicely on her reappearance at Punchestown and Gordon Elliott's star deservedly tops the betting. Yet, with Willie Mullins firing in winners left, right and centre, I'd rather place my faith in SHEWEARSITWELL.

Mullins's mare looked like a star in the making during her brief novice hurdles campaign. Shewearsitwell then fell on her return after a 450-day absence in this race last Christmas, before struggling in similar company during the spring and summer months.

Following a 76-day break, Shewearsitwell returned to winning form in a Pertemps Qualifier at Punchestown, where she made smooth progress from the rear and snatched victory with flying finish. Shewearsitwell deserves to be running in this sort of company and she should be even more effective over this shorter trip.

Race 2 - Neville Hotels Novice Chase Tips

Like the previous race, the top two in the betting here seem head-and-shoulders above the competition. Gaillard Du Mesnil tops the market for the red-hot Willie Mullins, but he's yet to win in six starts over fences and I'd rather side with a proven winner in THREE STRIPE LIFE.

Gordon Elliott's star went into the Drinmore on the back of a solid novice chase victory at Naas. Three Stripe Life seemed to be in a good rhythm early on, that was until Davy Russell's mount made a shuddering error at the eighth flight, causing Russell to lose his irons and Three Stripe Life was pulled up soon after.

Three Stripe Life looked every inch a three-mile chaser during a successful novice hurdlers campaign and he could have Gaillard Du Mesnil's number.

Race 3 - Matheson Hurdle Tips

Race 4 - bet365 Handicap Chase Tips

DUBLIN FOUR showed plenty of promise last season and ran a cracking race on his reappearance. Fergal O'Brien's charge drifted out to 12/1 before the Grade Three Premier Handicap Chase at Wetherby, but ran on well in the closing stages to finish second to Into Overdrive, who's done nothing but boost that form since.

Paddy Brennan's mount was sneaking into contention in the Sir Peter O'Sullevan, until a crashing error at the third-last practically brought Dublin Four to a halt. O'Brien's eight-year-old runs off the same mark again today and he should relish this step up to three miles.

Race 5 - Handicap Hurdle Tips

The customary Charles Byrnes gamble is well-and-truly underway on Green Glory, and it would be a surprise if the favourite was beaten. At the prices, I'd rather take a chance on Ciaran Murphy's mare, ELLE PERFECTA.

A winner on her second hurdles start at Bellewstown in July, Elle Perfecta was then only beaten two lengths in a Listed Hurdle at the Galway Festival. Murphy's mare then made an impressive handicap debut at the Listowel Harvest Festival, where she ran out an easy winner off a mark of 121.

Elle Perfecta then travelled over to Cheltenham, where she was forced to run off an inflated mark of 127 and failed to get involved in a very messy race. I'm expecting Murphy's mare to be much more competitive off her Irish mark of 121 and Liam McKenna takes a valuable seven pounds off her back.

Race 6 - Yorkshire Silver Vase Tips

The last two winners of this contest, Zambella and Annie Mc occupy the top two spots in the betting. I'm happy to take both of them on with PINK LEGEND, who came within half-a-length of beating Elimay in the Mares' Chase at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival.

Unlike many of Venetia Williams' chasers, Pink Legend seems to do her best work on decent ground. Charlie Deutsch's mount won a Listed Handicap at Cheltenham's April Meeting in 2021 and beat Vienna Court in another Listed race at Huntingdon back in January. Pink Legend didn't run well in the Peterborough Chase on her reappearance earlier this month, but she should be much more competitive back in with her own sex.
