ITV Racing has got a quality afternoon of racing planned for Sunday afternoon. Huntingdon stages its popular Peterborough Chase card, should the course pass a morning inspection. ITV will also be showing a trio of strong handicaps live from Kelso racecourse.

Here are my best betting tips for Huntingdon and Kelso on Sunday.

2:05pm Kelso - Scottish Borders' National Tips

Sandy Thompson won this race four times in a row between 2014 and '18, with Neptune Equester and Harry The Viking claiming back-to-back wins. FLOWER OF SCOTLAND (7/1) wouldn't be classed as a back-to-back winner, after last year's renewal was abandoned, but Thompson's mare looks to have a good chance of retaining her crown.

Flower Of Scotland ran out an easy winner of the Borders National in 2022, claiming a six-length win off a mark of 114. Thompson's nine-year-old has failed to win since and endured a tough campaign last term. However, Henry Brooke's mount ran a decent enough race on her reappearance at Carlisle, this will be her second start after a wind-op and Flower Of Scotland has dropped to a lowly mark of just 107.

2:25pm Huntingdon - Handicap Hurdle Tips

I'm in no hurry to side against GO TO WAR (7/4) as he makes his debut for Nicky Henderson. This son of Soldier Of Fortune won a bumper and two novice hurdles for Fergal O'Brien, and was last seen dispatching of Court In The Act, who's now rated 128.

Henderson has a decent record with recruits, especially on their first starts for his stable. Go To War has been given an opening rating of just 123 and rain-softened ground shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

2:40pm Kelso - Handicap Chase Tips

I'm a big fan of Matata, having included him in my 20 To Follow for the season. While I was pleased to see him get the win at Cheltenham last time out, I fancy Gunsight Ridge would have passed him had he stood the last. Matata was running on fumes late on that day and soft ground might not be to his liking.

Gunsight Ridge would be the obvious alternative on that basis. However, I'm going to chance my arm with NELLS SON (7/1), who chased down Unexpected Party after Kalif Du Berlais' fall to score at Carlisle last month. Nicky Richards' star may have been boosted up to a career-high mark of 144, but he loves Kelso and a fast-paced 17 furlongs should suit him perfectly.

3:00pm Huntingdon - Handicap Chase Tips

Another that I'm happy to chance on their first start of the season is LYRICAL GENIUS (12/1). Like Go To War, Lyrical Genius will be having his first start for a new trainer, after he was brought by Nickel Back's owners and sent to Sarah Humphries.

Humphries recruit won on his first start of the season in bumpers and as a novice hurdler. He went close on his second chasing start after a 56-day break and was only beaten a head by Fenland Tiger on his return to action at Carlisle 12 months ago. Lyrical Genius seems to do his best work when fresh, he handles soft ground and will be running off his lowest-ever chasing mark of 102.

3:15pm Kelso - Novices' Limited Handicap Chase Tips

Sunday's final race at Kelso provides WHISTLE STOP TOUR (5/2) with an excellent opportunity to make it second time lucky over fences. Lucinda Russell's six-year-old beat talented stablemate Primoz in a point-to-point and ran plenty of times over hurdles last season, claiming his sole victory at Ayr in March.

Whistle Stop Tour was heavily backed in the build-up to his chasing debut, but was let down by his jumping early on. Russell will have been pleased to see her six-year-old stay on strong in the closing stages to finish third behind White Rhino, who followed up at Haydock earlier this week. Whistle Stop Tour remains on the same mark of 124 and looks ready for this step up to three miles.

3:35pm Huntingdon - Listed Mares' Flat Race Tips

Kapability won nicely at Aintree on her bumper debut and the form of that race looks rock solid. Highland Haven was ultra impressive when scoring on debut too, tanking past her rivals to win easily at Ffos Las.

SUPREME MALINAS (5/1) finished second in her opening bumper at Newton Abbot. She was, however, pitched in with the geldings and held her own extremely well despite being dwarfed by two rivals in the closing stages. Dan Skelton's recruit won an Irish point-to-point by 24 lengths on heavy ground back in March, clocking an excellent RPR in the process. Supreme Malinas clearly has plenty of talent, and a good attitude to boot.
