ITV Racing Tips - Wednesday 18th August

Race 1 - Symphony Group Handicap Tips

Ornate and Copper Knight are likely to go forward from stalls two and three, while fellow front-runners Major Jumbo and El Astronaute have been drawn down in 17 and 19 - meaning the field will probably split into two distinct groups, which might inconvenience those drawn in the centre of the track.

Drawn in 13 we have LIVE IN THE MOMENT, who ended last season with four straight victories, including a win in the Apprentice Handicap sprint at this very meeting.

Adam West's stable star only made his reappearance this term two weeks ago, and ran an excellent race to finish third behind a very classy runner in Raaeb at Chelmsford. This race has clearly been the target, and Rab Havlin's mount looks a solid each-way option.

Race 2 - Tattersalls Acomb Stakes Tips

Five exciting prospects clash in this year's Acomb, and the one I want to back is EHRAZ for Jim Crowley, Richard Hannon and Shadwell Estates.

Ehraz was beaten two-lengths by Noble Truth on debut. Noble Truth had a run under his belt and found a lovely passage through the race. Ehraz, on the other hand, found himself out the back after a terrible start, and was forced to circumnavigate the entire field to mount his challenge on the slowest side of the track.

Following that encouraging effort, Hannon's youngster got off the mark at Ascot, thrashing his rivals without breaking a sweat. The track at York will suit this speedy son of Showcasing and Ehraz has the profile of a big improver.

Race 3 - Great Voltigeur Stakes Tips

Kemari hasn't been seen since Royal Ascot, and he's got a three-pound penalty to contend with. High Definition has also been off for a while and, while there were excuses for his lengthy defeat in the Irish Derby, he looks a little short in the market considering his lack of progress this season.

I'm going to back his stablemate SIR LUCAN, who flew home to finish ahead of Third Realm, Yibir and Youth Spirit in the Gordon Stakes last time out. Frankie Dettori held Sir Lucan up at Goodwood, and was the last to make his move entering the home straight. Ottoman Emporer held on to win, but had that race been a furlong longer, Sir Lucan might have caught the winner.

Sir Lucan has improved with each start this season and Aidan O'Brien feels first-time cheek-pieces could help his colt challenge in this year's Great Voltigeur.

Race 4 - Juddmonte International Stakes Tips

Read our full guide to the 2021 Juddmonte International Stakes to see who we fancy will come out on top in Wednesday's feature at York.

Race 5 - Sky Bet Handicap Tips

I'm keen on the chances of ELYSIAN FLAME, whose been in cracking form since returning to the flat in April. After a strong win at Newbury, Mick Easterby's five-year-old has finished fifth after a terrible start in the Chester Plate, third in the Ascot Stakes and third again in the Goodwood Handicap last time out.

Danny Tudhope gave his mount far too much to do at Goodwood, but Elysian Flame finished his race brilliantly and was still gaining on the leaders as he crossed the line. Dropping back to two miles won't inconvenience him at all, and he's still capable of winning off a career-high flat mark of 100.
