There may be no Group One races on the day four card at Glorious Goodwood, but viewers are still in for a stellar day's racing. Battaash goes for five wins in a row in the King George Stakes, while punters have the Thoroughbred Stakes, Glorious Stakes and the Golden Mile Handicap to sink their teeth into.

Let's jump into our Glorious Goodwood day four selections.

ITV Racing Tips - Glorious Goodwood Day Four Tips

Race 1 - Goodwood Handicap Tips

The top four from last year's renewal reoppose here. Just Hubert got up late on to beat long-time leader, Rochester House that day. SMART CHAMPION, who was held up out the back and forced wide to make his challenge, stayed on really well to finish a length back in third.

Since then, David Simcock's stayer has been beaten five times at Newmarket and twice more here at Goodwood, finishing fourth behind Stag Horn in September and third on his last visit to Sussex in June. Those defeats see Smart Champion enter this year's race rated six pounds lower than 12 months ago, and Saffie Osbourne's claimer will see Simcock's six-year-old shoulder just 7-13.

Race 2 - Thoroughbred Stakes Tips

I'm half-hoping we see something special from Baaeed, who spanked some classy sorts in the Henry Cecil Stakes last time out to remain unbeaten. However, we've seen many top prospects come unstuck on this tricky track down the years and, at 8/11, Baaeed isn't really a profitable betting option.

The next-best option is certainly EL DRAMA, who won a strong renewal of the Dee Stakes at Chester, before finishing down the field in the Prix du Jockey Club. Roger Varian pitched his three-year-old into the Coral-Eclipse last time out and, although he finished last, Andrea Atzeni's mount was only beaten six lengths. I think El Drama has more than enough speed for a mile, and he could have the favourite's number.

Race 3 - Golden Mile Handicap Tips

Being drawn low has proven to be a huge advantage in the Golden Mile recently. 13 of the last 15 winners were drawn in a single-figure stall, and the majority of the placers have come from stalls 11 or lower in that time period.

I think you really have to back PATH OF THUNDER, who couldn't have been more impressive when winning a competitive handicap at the July Meeting. Charlie Appleby's runner carries a three-pound penalty for that success, but he's still five pounds well-in at the weights and William Buick will have been delighted to be drawn in stall three.
I'm also going to back ESCOBAR, who was only beaten two lengths in the Lennox Stakes here on day one. David O'Meara's seven-year-old is yet to win at Goodwood, but he's run well at this track on a number of occasions down the years. The softer the ground the better for Escobar, and 9-8 won't stop Jason Watson's mount from challenging.

Race 4 - King George Stakes Tips

Battaash will attempt to make history in Friday's feature race, with Charlie Hills' star looking to complete a five-timer in this historic Group Two.

Race 5 - Glorious Stakes Tips

If the rain that's forecast in the Sussex area on Friday materialises, then there's a strong chance Mogul - who was pulled out of the Hardwicke Stakes when the ground turned soft - won't take his chance.

One who will relish soft ground is ALOUNAK, who claimed his first victory on British soil with a superb handicap victory at Haydock last month. Andrew Balding's charge was beaten three-lengths in this race last year, having been boxed in on the rail for much of the contest. Alounak brings winning form with him back to Goodwood and the slower the ground, the better as far as he's concerned.
