The lucrative Winter Millions meeting takes place at Windsor for the first time this weekend and viewers have got an excellent card to enjoy on day one. Along with four quality races at Windsor, ITV Racing will be showing one flat handicap from Newcastle and three top races at Market Rasen, including the rescheduled Veterans Series Final.

Here are my best betting tips for Friday's ITV races at Windsor and Market Rasen.

ITV Racing Tips - Friday 17th January

1:35pm Market Rasen - Middle Distance Veterans' Handicap Chase Tips

I like backing ten-year-olds in the Veterans' races and NOCTE VOLATUS (9/2) holds plenty of appeal. Tom Lacey's ten-year-old made the most of a reduced mark to score at Uttoxeter back in May, and followed up with a hard-fought win on his reappearance at Chepstow in November.

Nocte Volatus was last seen staying on for second at Ascot behind impressive winner Gemirande, who followed up in the December Gold Cup at Cheltenham. Cameron Iles' claimer leaves Lacey's star shoulder just 10-8 and the track at Market Rasen should certainly suit.

2:10pm Newcastle - Handicap Tips

A good quality race, but nothing for me here.

2:25pm Windsor - Mares' Handicap Chase Tips

After a sticky spell during the opening two weeks of the year, Dan Skelton's horses are coming back into form and this race looks to have been the target for PANIC ATTACK (10/3) this season.

Skelton's recruit jumped superbly when making a winning chasing debut for David Pipe in 2022 and went on to place in a number of high-profile handicaps against the geldings. After spending the best part of two years off the track, Panic Attack ran in two handicap hurdles in December, finishing third behind the progressive Tour Ovalie on both occasions.

Dan Skelton has made no secret about targeting this meeting, and Harry is gunning for that David Power Jockey Bonus. Panic Attack looks well-treated on her return to chasing, and stepping back up in trip should suit her, too.

2:35pm Market Rasen - Veterans' Chase Series Final Tips

I was keen on FORTESCUE (6/1) for this series final before Sandown was called off and I can't see the move to Market Rasen inconveniencing him.

Henry Daly's 11-year-old hasn't won for a while, but did go close on three occasions last term and finished a clear second on his reappearance at Aintree behind Copperhead - who had already run and won at Chepstow and was getting a stone from Fortescue at the weights. Hugh Nugent's mount then bumped into another rampant rival in Beauport in the Berkshire National at Ascot, where he was held up for the majority of the contest and eventually finished fourth.

Fortescue is running off one of the lowest marks of his career and Nugent's claim sees him enter the final at the bottom of the weights. Four of his six chasing wins have come around right-handed tracks and Henry Daly's horses have been in excellent form all season.

3:00pm Windsor - Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Hurdle Tips

I backed both Blueking d'Oroux and Salver in high-profile races over the Festival period, but I'm hesitant to go in today. The favourite looks a little skinny, considering we don't know what sort of form the Paul Nicholls horses are in and Salver took a heavy enough fall at the final flight in the Relkeel 16 days ago. I'd be surprised if that hadn't left some kind of a mark.

IBERICO LORD (9/2) drops back to hurdling, having produced an error-strewn display over fences at Ascot last month. Nicky Henderson's seven-year-old got away with several errors when winning on his chasing debut, but Nico De Boinville's mount put in one sloppy jump too many on his second outing of the season, falling at the third last when attempting to keep tabs on the leaders.

Henderson's seven-year-old won the Greatwood and the Betfair Hurdle last season, before an ambitious tilt at the Champion Hurdle. Despite his successes over the minimum distance, Iberico Lord has always raced like he wants two-and-a-half miles and he could be rejuvenated on his return to the smaller obstacles.

3:10pm Market Rasen - Alan Swinbank Mares' Flat Race Tips

I've never been keen to bet in bumpers and this race looks too tight for me to call. No bet.

3:35pm Windsor - Sovereign Handicap Hurdle Tips

Day one of the Winter Millions meeting concludes with an excellent handicap hurdle, where chances can be given to plenty. One that sticks out to me at a lengthy price is GIVEMEFIVE (16/1), who seems to have been written off after a 17-length defeat to the superb Anzadam in Ireland on his most recent start.

Harry Derham's star was a precocious juvenile last season, finishing a very close second to Kalif Du Berlais in the Adonis at Kempton, before finishing fourth in another Grade Two at Fairyhouse in April. Givemefive then won a decent enough renewal of the Masterson Holdings Hurdle at Cheltenham in October, despite the quick ground seemingly being against him.

Top Irish jockey, Michael O'Sullivan travels over to take the ride on Friday and Givemefive is dangerously weighted at just 10-12. Ground conditions should be ideal too. 16/1 looks massive to me.
