Ascot's Clarence House Chase card and the Portman Cup meeting at Taunton have been lost to the frost. Thankfully, early signs suggest that Haydock's Peter Marsh Chase card will go ahead on Friday, and ITV Racing has slotted four races into the schedule from Lingfield, including the Winter Oaks Handicap.

ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 21st January

Race 1 - Rossington Main Novices' Hurdle Tips

Having looked like he'd improve greatly for the experience on his hurdles debut behind Tahmuras at Chepstow, PEMBROKE has claimed two emphatic victories.

Dan Skelton's charge bolted up on heavy ground at Wetherby, where he clocked an impressive time compared to the bumper and juvenile hurdle held on the same card. Pembroke then carried a penalty to victory at Ludlow, crossing the line 16 lengths ahead of a Nicky Henderson runner and Western Zephyr, who's boosted that form with a two-length victory of his own since.

The Skelton's have been the team to follow on Saturdays this season and Pembroke certainly seems up to Grade Two company. I quite like War Soldier at a lengthy price, but I don't think he'll be good enough to beat the favourite.

Race 2 - BetUK Handicap Tips

I quite fancy an each-way punt on MARION'S BOY, who wasn't beaten far over this course-and-distance back in November. Roger Teal's six-year-old was then touched off over 12 furlongs, before running well when third over that same distance last time out. Marion's Boy crossed the line just a length behind Obsidian Knight and there's a huge disparity between the two in the betting here. David Probert's mount has a chance.

Race 3 - The New One Hurdle Tips

Nicky Henderson has confirmed Epatante, knowing full well that the ground will be bottomless on Saturday. Epatante is clearly the best horse in this race and did win on heavy ground in France before joining Seven Barrows, so she'll likely take plenty of beating.

In the betting without Epatante special market, I'll take a chance on JASON THE MILITANT, as he makes his debut for Phil Kirby. During his time with Henry De Bromhead, this nine-year-old won a couple of Graded races over hurdles and was narrowly beaten by Abacadabras in the 2020 renewal of the Morgiana Hurdle.

Jason The Militant loves plenty of cut in the ground, as he displayed when winning a Listed race on the flat at Naas in October 2021. Kirby's recruit ran flat when last seen in Ireland back in October, but there's every chance he could follow Epatante home if returning to some sort of form.

Another tricky hanicap at Lingfield, but I'd give a decent shout to Amy Murphy's runner, DANCINGINTHEWOODS. Freddy Larson's mount won nicely over this distance at Kempton in October and has since been beaten narrowly twice over this course-and-distance. Dancinginthewoods remains well-handicapped and Murphy has fitted a visor for the first time to freshen things up.

Race 6 - Winter Oaks Tips

AL AGAILA couldn't have been more impressive in winning the Winter Oaks Trial here in December. Simon & Ed Crisford's filly travelled well throughout. Luke Morris stole a glance between his legs as Al Agaila moved into contention and the 7/2 shot cruised clear in the closing stages to win easily.

The handicapper has taken a swipe at Al Agaila following that win, upping her mark from 79 right up to 90. The favourite would still seem to have a little in-hand on the handicapper, though, and James Doyle is flying back from Dubai to take the ride.

Race 7 - Handicap Hurdle Tips

Patrick Wadge's claimer improves De Legislator's already strong chances of making a winning handicap debut. At a much longer price, I like the look of SALVINO for Ryan Mania and Sandy Thomson.

Having progressed with each of his novice starts, Salvino has run two crackers in handicap company so far. Mania's mount was held off by Johnson's Blue up at Catterick, and was only beaten a length back down in trip at Newcastle last time out. Salvino won his point-to-point on very soft ground and remains open to improvement as a staying hurdler.

Saturday's final contest could set up nicely for SILKY WILKIE, who'll be ridden by seven-pound claimer Sam Feilden. Karl Burke's four-year-old brings some solid placed form to the table and was last seen finishing second here at Lingfield behind Annaf, who went in again at Newcastle this week. Burke's had a couple of welcome winners this week and Silky Wilkie should go well back down in Class 3 company.
