ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 2nd July

Race 1 - Coral Charge Tips

I've been on Mitbaahy for both of his most recent wins and Roger Varian's three-year-old remains a progressive sprinter to follow. Stall one is never a good draw for a hold-up horse on the sprint course at Sandown - especially when the two likely pacesetters are drawn two and three and could track over onto the inside rail - so the favourite may have difficulty weaving through the field.

Like Mitbaahy, RAASEL has progressed with each run this season. Mick Appleby's five-year-old comes into this on the back of a Group Three triumph at Haydock, where James Doyle timed his late run to perfection to beat Dragon Symbol by three-quarters-of-a-length. "The Doyler" should have a decent pace to aim at today and Raasel could claim his second pattern-race victory on the bounce.

Race 2 - bet365 Handicap Tips

I'm always respectful of Hughie Morrison runners in handicaps and PERCY JONES holds plenty of appeal at 12/1.

Morrison's charge was beaten by Double Cherry at Goodwood last time out, where Percy Jones twice tried to dart into the gap on the rail, but found his path blocked. Josephine Gordon's mount is seven pounds better off at the weights with Double Cherry and he's bred to appreciate this step up in distance.

Race 3 - Coral Challenge Tips

This looks like a good opportunity for SINJAARI, who hasn't won since July 2020, to claim an overdue victory. Harry and Roger Charlton's star has run two crackers this season, losing out by a length at Newbury before powering home from the worst draw in the race to finish fifth in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot. Sinjaari has been dropped a pound for that run and the Charlton's must not be worried about 9-11, as they haven't tried to book a claimer. He's certainly got a favourite's chance.

Race 4 - Yorkshire Oaks Tips

We've now got a cracking renewal of this Group Two to enjoy and I'm favouring Champion Fillies & Mares' Stakes winner, ESHAADA over the returning Free Wind.

On her first start of the season, Roger Varian's mare was forced to give weight to some handy colts and geldings in the Al Rayyan Stakes. Jim Crowley gave his mount one crack to see if she could get involved, and when there was little response, he allowed Eshaada to cruise home some seven lengths behind Ilaraab in fifth.

That run was very much a pipe-opener for the rest of the season and Eshaada will relish the extra juice in the Haydock Park ground.

Race 5 - Coral Distaff Tips

Although she's yet to taste defeat in four career starts, I'm happy to take Heredia on at 5/4. Ryan Moore will get the leg up on GRANDE DAME, who may have been outclassed on the Coronation Stakes, but showed enough prior to Ascot to suggest that she's a filly with plenty of ability. I'd much rather back the Gosden's runner at 7/2

Race 6 - bet365 Old Newton Cup Handicap Tips

Again, I'm fully respectful of the progressive Gaassee, but I can't be backing a 13/8 favourite in a 17-runner handicap around Haydock, not when there are plenty of tempting each way alternatives.

I quite like the chances of SECRET SHADOW, who ran a lovely race when third to Inchicore on her reappearance over 14 furlongs at Goodwood. Andrew Balding's filly is just two pounds higher for that solid return effort and enters this right at the bottom of the weights. Hayley Turner, who gets an excellent tune out of this daughter of Camelot, will fancy her chances.
