One of the world's most famous sporting events takes place on Saturday, as a field of quality colts takes part in the Epsom Derby. ITV Racing viewers will again be treated to five races on Derby day, including two pattern races and the thrilling Epsom Dash sprint handicap.

Here are my best betting tips for Saturday's ITV races.

ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 1st June

2:00pm Epsom - Princess Elizabeth Stakes Tips

Three-year-olds have only managed to win five of the last 25 renewals of this Group Three. In contrast, George Boughey boasts an excellent record at this venue, and he'll be represented by prolific three-year-old CHIC COLOMBINE (8/1).

William Buick's mount won her three starts in juvenile handicaps last term, before a luckless fourth in the Oh So Sharp Stakes on her final two-year-old start. Chic Colombine kicked off her three-year-old campaign with a rampant victory in the Listed race at Saint-Cloud, before labouring to a 12th place finish in the French 1000 Guineas.

While she may have only finished ahead of three rivals at Longchamp, Chic Colombine was only beaten five lengths in what was an extremely messy affair. I'm more than happy to put a line through that outing and any extra juice in the ground on Saturday would greatly enhance her chances.

2:35pm Epsom - Diomed Stakes Tips

The first two from last year's renewal of the Diomed will clash again on Saturday, with Highland Avenue leading Regal Reality in the market. Embesto currently tops a wide-open betting heat, with the progressive Silver Sword not far behind.

I prefer the chances of EPICTETUS (7/1), who won the Blue Ribband Trial here at Epsom on his reappearance. John and Thady Gosden's colt managed to land the Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood later in the summer, before finding life much more difficult at Group One and Two level.

On his reappearance, Epictetus ran a stinker in the Paradise Stakes at Ascot - his third blowout at that venue. Switching back to a track he likes will help and the Gosden's horses usually improve for their first outing of the season.

3:10pm Epsom - 3YO Dash Handicap Tips

I will be the first to admit that sprint handicaps aren't my strong suit. I'll be having a swipe on an outsider in this race and the forthcoming Dash, and the runner I've landed on here is TEARS OF A CLOWN (18/1).

Henry Candy's filly bolted up on her second start at Windsor last May, before a narrow defeat in Listed company at Newbury, where she clocked an RPR of 91. Trevor Whelan's mount was far too keen on her final juvenile outing at Group Three level and faded late on as she made her reappearance at Bath. Yet, this opening handicap mark of 89 could turn out to be lenient and the sprint course at Epsom should suit this speedy sort.

3:45pm Epsom - Epsom Dash Tips

Plenty hold chances in a typically open Dash. The one I like most is DREAM COMPOSER (12/1) who, despite racking up 43 career starts, has never raced at Epsom before, but will carry just 8-00 on his racecourse debut.

James Evans' six-year-old usually saves his best for Goodwood, and ran a cracker when only beaten a neck at that venue eight days ago. Dream Composer takes his racing well and often needs a few starts at the beginning of a campaign to get fit. Joe Levey's mount should be spot on for this assignment and Dream Composer has landed a kind central draw in stall seven.
