The first Classic of the flat racing season takes place on Saturday, as 11 colts take part in the 2024 2000 Guineas. ITV Racing will be showing four races live from Newmarket on 2000 Guineas day, along with the Conquerer Fillies' Stakes from Goodwood and a wide-open renewal of the Thirsk Hunt Cup.

Here are my best betting tips for Saturday's ITV races.

ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 4th May

1:45pm Newmarket - Heritage Handicap Tips

Soft ground form could be all-important on Saturday afternoon. ALEEZDANCER (14/1) needs cut in the ground to perform to his best and Kevin Ryan's sprinter remains on his last winning mark.

Aleezdancer won easily off a mark of 93 on his reappearance at Doncaster last season and ran well in defeat a couple more times when the ground eased later in the season. From a tricky draw in stall one, Ryan's six-year-old plugged on to finish a close third in that same Doncaster handicap on his return to action in March and conditions should be ideal for Tom Eaves' mount this weekend.

2:05pm Goodwood - Conqueror Fillies Stakes Tips

Marcella looks highly progressive and she'd be on my radar for a race like the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot. Pitching her into Listed company against older fillies, on just her fourth start on turf, is a big ask, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jason Watson's mount ran well.

The outstanding contender, for me, is BREEGE (3/1), who hit the crossbar a number of times during her three-year-old campaign. John and Sean Quinn's filly finished second on three occasions and wasn't beaten far when fourth behind Chindit in the Fortune Stakes at Sandown.

Breege has gone very close on both of her previous starts here at Goodwood, losing out narrowly in the Prestige as a two-year-old, before another runner-up finish to Magical Sunset in the Oak Tree Stakes at last year's Glorious meeting. Jason Hart's mount enjoys this track and we know she handles cut in the ground. With more progress to come this term, Breege is a strong fancy.

2:20pm Newmarket - Suffolk Stakes Tips

Torito remains on a decent enough mark and should progress further during his four-year-old campaign. I'm convinced that Theoryofeverything will land a decent pot for David O'Meara at some point this season, but less convinced that the rigours of the Rowley Mile will suit.

Plenty enter this wide-open handicap with chances. None more so than MAJESTIC (12/1), who won the Cambridgeshire over this course-and-distance back in 2022.

Jack Channon's six-year-old has failed to score again since, but has gone close in several prestigious handicaps. David Probert's mount placed in six of his eight starts last season, including a fourth-place finish as he attempted to defend his Cambridgeshire crown. Majestic was only beaten a length on his return to action on the Rowley Mile last month and he'll be even more effective back over this longer trip.

2:40pm Thirsk - Thirsk Hunt Cup Tips

Karl Burke has called upon the services of the in-form Callum Rodriguez to spark a response from EILEAN DUBH (25/1), who ended last season in woeful form. Burke's six-year-old ran poorly on his reappearance too, finishing out the back of the field at Musselburgh two weeks ago.

Eilean Dubh won four times in 2022, and ran fairly well in this race 12 months ago, before going on to score at Hamilton. Burke's star will run in a visor for the first time on Saturday and returns to Thirsk rated three pounds lower than last year. At 25/1, he's a speculative punt.

2:55pm Newmarket - Palace House Stakes Tips

It's been 15 years since a three-year-old last won the Palace House, but that hasn't stopped the bookies from installing Karl Burke's filly, Beautiful Diamond as the 7/2 favourite. The defending champion is VADREAM (8/1), who beat future Nunthorpe winner, Live In The Dream and 12 other rivals to win this Group Three 12 months ago.

Charlie Fellowes' mare returns to Newmarket on the back of a decent run in the Lansdown Stakes at Bath, where she kept on from off the pace to finish third behind Adaay In Devon, who finished a close second in the Pavillion Stakes at Ascot earlier in the week. The more rain that falls over the next couple of days, the better as far as Vadream is concerned and Kieran Shoemark's mount has a much smaller field to contend with this time around.
