Chester's popular May Festival gets off to a flying start on Wednesday afternoon. Two Epsom Classic trials headline the proceedings, with ITV Racing also screening three sprint handicaps live from the red-hot Roodee.

Here are my best betting tips for Wednesday's ITV Races at Chester.

ITV Racing Tips - Wednesday 7th May

Only Andrew Balding has had more winners at Chester than Hugo Palmer, since he made the move to Manor House. Palmer runs two in the opening race of the May Festival, with Tom Marquand partnering with impressive Southwell winner, MISS PIGGLE (3/1).

Palmer's filly hung a little left that day, but showed enough speed to pull over two lengths clear of a decent field. That hanging could be a problem around Chester, especially if she starts poorly from stall nine, but I liked what I saw from Miss Piggle on debut and fancy she could take a big step forwards on her second career start.

No bet for me here, I'm sticking to the flat until the proper jumpers come out again in the autumn.

2:00pm Chester - Handicap Tips

A fast starter with a low draw is a potent combination in any race around Chester, so Clive Cox will have been delighted to see REDORANGE (3/1) drawn down in stall two.

Cox's youngster showed plenty of pace as a juvenile, running well on his first three starts in novice races. Redorange then scored on his handicap debut at Yarmouth in September, where Rossa Ryan's mount broke well and kept on nicely to score by a length-and-quarter.

Redorgane shaped with plenty of promise when third in a hot handicap at Sandown on his reappearance, running up to an RPR of 92. Cox's colt as three last-time-out winners to contend with, but all three have been give a decent hike in the weights, whereas Redorange was only upped two pounds to 86 for that encouraging run at Sandown.

2:35pm Chester - Cheshire Oaks Tips

We then move on to an intriguing trial for the Epsom Oaks, where Minnie Hauk tops the market for Aidan O'Brien. QUEEN OF THIEVES (4/1) isn't entered in that Classic, but could be supplemented by Anthony Oppenheimer if she impressed on Wednesday.

John & Thady Gosden's filly looked green and unfurnished on her two juvenile starts, finishing fifth on debut at Doncaster before a third-placed effort at Newbury. Kieran Shoemark's mount was backed into odds-on favouritism before her reappearance at Yarmouth, and proceeded to dominate her three rivals and record an 11-length success.

The runner-up that day boasted some decent juvenile form, but she was no match for Queen Of Thieves, who relished both the step up in trip and faster ground. The Gosden's horses remain in good form and the conditions of this race should suit.

3:40pm Chester - Capital Handicap Tips

An interesting contender at a massive price is CRESSIDA WILDES (40/1), who finished fourth in a decent enough handicap at Newmarket this weekend.

Phil McEntee's recruit progressed nicely on the all-weather over the winter, scoring in a five-furlong maiden at Chelmsford in January. That victory was followed by a flat performance in a Class 2 at Lingfield, where the outsider of the party started slowly and never got involved.

Cressida Wildes was only beaten two lengths in a Listed contest and placed second in a hot maiden here at Chester during her year with Charlie Fellowes. Grace McEntee's mount ran well for the most part at Newmarket on Saturday and the quick turnaround suggests she came out of the race I top shape.
