The July Festival kicks off at Newmarket on Thursday, and ITV racing fans have four excellent races to enjoy from flat racing HQ. We'll also head over to Carlisle to watch a competitive fillies' handicap on Thursday afternoon.

Race 1 - Bahrain Trophy Tips

John Gosden has won four of the last ten renewals of the Bahrain Trophy, and I don't want to side against the progressive STOWELL, who ran a solid race in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot.

Frankie Dettori's mount was detached early that day as he struggled to settle, and was forced really wide turning in as he tried to make up ground. Once Stowell got into his stride, though, he finished really strongly, crossing the line in third place.

The team will probably be working backwards from the St Leger following that outing, and I fancy Stowell will take all the beating in Thursday's opener.

Race 2 - Fillies' Handicap Tips

LADY CELIA has come up just a neck short on both her most recent starts at Hamilton. Richard Fahey's filly has clocked RPRs of 70 and 73 in those races, and she'll effectively be running off an official mark of 64 here, thanks to Connor Murtagh's claimer. Stepping back up to six furlongs should suit too.

Race 4 - bet365 Handicap Tips

I fancy backing a couple here, the first being POPMASTER, who ran OK at Royal Ascot, finishing three-lengths adrift in the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes Handicap.

Ed Walker's charge had fallen to narrow defeats on his three previous starts, including behind Rohaan at Lingfield, and he can bounce back to his best with just 8-5 on his back.
I also fancy a punt on Walker's second runner PEERLESS, who enters right near the bottom of the weights thanks to Saffie Osbourne's claimer.

Peerless has won two of his four starts over five furlongs this season, and has run well over six furlongs before, so I can't see this extra furlong harming his chances at all.

Race 5 - Princess Of Wales's Tattersalls Stakes Tips

I don't see any point siding against AL AASY in Thursday's final ITV race. William Haggas' charge has looked exceptional this season, bolting up in the John Porter and the Al Rayyan, before being outbattled in the Coronation Cup by a genuine Group One performer in Pyledriver.

Jim Crowley's mount is easily the best horse in this race, and he's getting three-pounds from his closest competitor in Sir Ron Priestley. He should win comfortably, before heading to Ascot for the King George!
