I'm fully expecting Logician to win this, and win it rather comfortably. If I had to back one to pull of the upset, I'd probably side with EUCHEN GLEN, who's been in excellent form in recent starts. Jim Goldie's seven-year-old loves York and does his best work on soft ground.

Race 2 - Cornwallis Stakes Tips

METHOD was my selection in the Middle Park Stakes here a couple of weeks ago. Sadly, Martyn Meade's star never got a chance to show what he can do at Group One level. Method was very keen early on, causing Frankie Dettori's saddle to slip, and he was eased down well before the end.

Although this drop to five furlongs doesn't seem ideal, Method showed plenty of pace when winning on his first couple of starts. He's easily the classiest horse in this Group Three, and I'm confident he will prove that on Friday.

Race 3 - Double Winnings Handicap Tips

Crownthorpe ran out a comfortable winner of this race 12 months ago, and returns to York on a workable mark. Richard Fahey's charge hasn't been drawn kindly, though. The defending champion has been handed the widest stall of all, and a low draw is often advantageous over a mile at York, especially when the ground is on the soft side.

FIRMAMENT, who followed Crownthorpe home last year, has been drawn much better than his rival, and will come out of stall six. David O'Meara's charge may be the oldest runner in this field, but Firmament has maintained a high-level of form this season. We know he handles softer ground and Angus Villiers takes a valuable five-pounds off his back.

Race 4 - Oh So Sharp Stakes Tips

It was hard not to be impressed by SAFFRON BEACH'S victory here on the Rowley Mile last month, and I fancy Jane Chapple-Hyam's filly will take this step up in grade firmly in her stride.

Adam Kirby gave his mount a patient ride that day, moving into contention coming out of the dip, and Saffron Beach soon put four lengths between herself and the field in the final furlong of the race. By the same sire as recent Royal Lodge winner New Mandate, Saffron Beach is clearly a very progressive filly, and that course-and-distance winning form will stand her in good stead.

Race 5 - Betsafe Handicap Tips

Prince Alex2:40pm York Betsafe Handicap (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) 1m6fGET 6/1 HERE

While I still think Favourite Moon has some wiggle room off this career-high mark, I fancy taking a punt on PRICE ALEX continuing his winning streak. Four victories on the bounce have helped Ralph Beckett's colt jump up the handicap by 18 pounds over the last two months, and he's improved greatly since stepping up in distance.

Last time out, Prince Alex comfortably saw off Dancing Harry, despite looking a little green when he hit the front. Beckett has his string in excellent form, and I feel there's more to come from this son of Excelebration.

Race 6 - Challenge Stakes Tips

The one who appeals most to me here is HAPPY POWER, who will be looking to seal a hat-trick, after winning on his two previous starts at Salisbury and Goodwood.

Last season, Andrew Balding's charge continually failed to get home over a mile, finishing sixth in the QEII on Champions Day. Happy Power has been kept over seven furlongs this term, and his results have been solid, placing in the Spring Trophy and Criterion Stakes, before racking up those wins.

Silvestre De Sousa's mount powered home in a high-quality Listed race the last time he ran on genuinely soft ground. Happy Power has gathered plenty of experience on the Rowley Mile, and offers good value in what looks a wide-open race.

Race 7 - Persian War Novices' Hurdle Tips

As the end of the last National Hunt season was curtailed, those who secured their first victories over both hurdles and fences after February 1st will retain their novice status until December. That means MCFABULOUS can continue against first season hurdlers for the time being, and Paul Nicholls' charge should win this without breaking a sweat.

I've long been a fan of McFabulous. I was a little disappointed by what he produced during the first half of last season, but he soon left those defeats behind, winning at Martet Rasen before bolting up in the Grade Three handicap at Kempton just after Cheltenham.

There's plenty more progression to come from McFabulous during his second season over hurdles. He could even be a sneaky outsider to watch out for in the 2021 Stayers' Hurdle.

Race 9 - Old Rowley Cup Handicap Tips

I tipped Trueshan when he won this race 12 months ago, and really fancy STRAIT OF HORMUZ to follow in his footsteps.

Jess O'Keeffe's gelding may have carried bottom-weight into a competitive handicap during the St LEger Festival, but Strait Of Hormuz looked very good value for his victory, seeing off Derevo and Caradoc with a perfectly timed late charge.

Although this will be his first start over a mile-and-a-half, his breeding is heavily influenced by two Derby winners in Sir Percy and High Chaparral, so Strait Of Hormuz may even improve further for this step up in trip. I'm expecting O'Keeffe's charge to come fast and late again, and there's no better jockey in the business at executing those tactics than Jamie Spencer. He'll be the last of my Newmarket tips on Friday.
