ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 1st October

Race 1 - Fillies' Handicap Tips

While there are several talented, race-fit fillies around her in the market, I'll take a chance on the returning CRYSTAL ESTRELLA, who hasn't been seen since her maiden victory at Goodwood back in May.

Sir Michael Stoute's filly finished fourth behind Emily Upjohn on her reappearance at Sandown. At Goodwood, William Buick tracked over to the rail entering the home straight and surged clear on the favourite, winning by over four lengths.

Crystal Estrella clocked an RPR of 91 without breaking a sweat that day and will make her handicap debut off an official mark of 89 on Saturday. If Sir Michael has her ready to roll after 134-days off the track, then I think she'll take plenty of beating.

Race 2 - Rous Stakes Tips

Three-year-olds have managed to win just four of the last 20 renewals of this Listed sprint. Therefore, I find myself drawn more towards the older runners in our opener at Ascot and it's not hard to make a case for TIS MARVELLOUS, who beat runaway Sprint Cup winner Minzaal in this race 12 months ago.

That was a fourth course-and-distance victory for Tis Marvellous, who simply loves running at Ascot racecourse. Soft ground won't bother Clive Cox's back-to-back Beverley Bullet winner either. 15/2, or even 7/1 is a cracking each-way price.

Race 3 - October Auction Stakes Tips

29 juveniles will be spread across the Rowley Mile in this ultra-competitive contest. Despite the strong claims held by market leaders Amichi and Skysail, backing anyone at a single-figure price in this sort of race doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

GEORGIAVA travels to Newmarket racecourse on the back of two hard-fought victories over six furlongs. Karl Burke's filly had failed to hit the target over the minimum distance, but relished the extra furlong when winning at Brighton and Carlisle. Jimmy Quinn's mount is drawn nicely on the high side of the track. She'll do for me at 20s.

Race 4 - Cumberland Lodge Stakes Tips

After running Kyprios close in the Irish St Leger, Hamish is understandably popular in the betting here. I'll take the market leader on with GET SHIRTY, who has enjoyed a fantastic season thus far.

David O'Meara's six-year-old won a handicap off 95 at Hamilton in May, before defeating Cleveland here at Ascot in the Copper Horse Handicap. Following another impressive handicap triumph at Haydock, Get Shirty was forced to carry top-weight in the Ebor, but still ran another excellent race to finish just three lengths behind Trawlerman in fifth.

Things didn't go to plan in the Doncaster Cup last time out. This drop back to 12 furlongs should see Get Shirty to best effect and a Group Three triumph, based on what he's achieved this season, would be richly deserved.

Race 6 - Bengough Stakes Tips

18+ only. Gambling can be addictive. Play responsibly.

There are no runners in Saturday's field with better course form than ROHAAN. David Evans' stable star won the Pavillion Stakes here last season and has gone on to score in the last two editions of the Wokingham at the Royal Meeting.

Since successfully defending that handicap crown back in June, Rohaan has finished a close fourth in both the Hackwood Stakes and the Prix Maurice de Gheest, and was last seen placing third behind Minzaal in the Sprint Cup. With Al Suhail likely to go out hard and fast on his side of the track, this race should be set up to suit Andrea Atzeni's mount perfectly.

Race 7 - Two Year Old Trophy Tips

COLD CASE travels to Redcar looking to seal a lucrative double. Karl Burke's colt was last seen winning the £300k 2YO Stakes during the Doncaster St Leger meeting, where the favourite repelled the rallying Alpha Capture to claim that valuable prize.

The form of that Doncaster race was boosted last weekend, when fourth-placed Galeron won the Goffs Million at the Curragh. Five of the last nine renewals of this contest have been won by the favourite and Cold Case could easily add his name to that list on Saturday.

Race 8 - Challenge Cup Tips

David O'Meara will saddle five of the 18 runners in this competitive renewal of the Challenge Cup. Blue For You, Rhoscolyn and Orbaan sit prominently in the betting, but I would rather take an each-way punt on the elder statesman of O'Meara's stable, ESCOBAR.

Winner of the 2019 Balmoral Handicap on Champions Day here at Ascot Racecourse, Escobar placed third in two pattern race prior to his run in the Ayr Gold Cup last time out. O'Meara's eight-year-old got off to a dreadful start that day and did well just to finish four lengths behind Summerghand back in eighth. Stepping back up to seven furlongs on soft ground should really suit this experienced campaigner. There's definitely at least one big handicap pot left in him.
