Although there's no Group One race on the card, day four of Glorious Goodwood does feature the King George Qatar Stakes. This five-furlong sprint has been won by many of the sport's fastest sprinters and this year's renewal is a Group One in all but name.

2024 King George Qatar Stakes Runners

A top-quality field has been confirmed for Friday's feature. King Charles III Stakes winner, Asfoora will carry a five-pound penalty for that Group One success. Recent Sapphire Stakes winner Believing, Temple Stakes hero Kerdos and Prix du Gros-Chene scorer Ponntos will also be lumbered with penalties for their seasonal Group Two wins.

Last year's Molecomb Stakes winner, Big Evs heads the betting for Tom Marquand and Mick Appleby. Commonwealth Cup third, Jasour and City Of Walls Stakes winner, Starlust will also represent the three-year-old generation.

Adam West's Live In The Dream and Irish raider Moss Tucker will also carry penalties, having struck in Group One company last term. Makarova and Desperate Hero, first and third in the Coral Charge, step into Group Two company. Rogue Lightning and Sturlasson complete Friday's line-up.

2024 King George Qatar Stakes Tips

Connections of Desperate Hero, Kerdos and Makarova won't be unhappy with their low draws. History tells us that there's no track bias at Goodwood. However, the majority of the pace in this race has been drawn high, so those placed in low numbers could be inconvenienced.

Live In The Dream and Ponntos like to go hard from the front. Big Evs won't be too far away from the early pace. Neither will Starlust, who's unbeaten over the minimum distance. Asfoora will have every chance of repeating her Royal Ascot success. Yet, the one I'm drawn to more than anyone else is BELIEVING (11/2).

George Boughey's filly returned to Britain with a bang when powering to victory in the Achilles Stakes at Haydock. Believing recovered well after a slightly sluggish start to finish a close fourth behind Asfoora at Royal Ascot, before repeating that placing in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes later in the week.

With Ryan Moore in the saddle, Believing was much too good for her rivals in the Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh, the form of which was boosted when third-place Makarove followed up in the Coral Charge. With Moore flying out to Saratoga on Thursday, Boughey has booked Billy Loughnane for Friday's assignment and he'll be delighted with a high draw-up in stall 11.
