The Ebor Festival continues at York today, and punters have seven excellent races to sink their teeth into, including the prestigious Yorkshire Oaks.

One of the most popular bets on a competitive race day like today is the Tote Placepot. We've taken a look at Tote's website to see which horses they suggest including in your Placepot on day two of the Ebor Festival.

Torpedo Leg

Although favourites have done well in the Lowther (Leg 1 - 13:50) in recent years, we’ve also seen horses at SPs of 12/1, 16/1, 20/1 and 25/1 (twice) finish in the frame since 2016. With early bird Placepot Insurance in play for those getting on the night before, it might be worth a free swing at a couple at big prices.

NAZANIN still looked a work in progress when winning first time out at Newbury, but still showed enough talent to win by just over a length. It was a similar story, without the victory at Ascot, when travelling well for most of the race, before appearing to get worried out of it when challenged from both sides, before finishing fourth. There’s still likely to be more to come and she’s not one to give up on.

VERTIGINOUS is another who isn’t particularly straightforward. Beaten favourite on two of her three runs, her best performance was when fifth at a massive price in the Queen Mary. Last time out at Kempton she didn’t handle the bend, running awkwardly into the home straight, but to her credit got back into things in the final furlong. The straight 6f should be more to her liking.

Outsider to Consider

CLIFFS OF CAPRI (Leg 3 - 15:00) only had one rival behind him entering the final furlong of the International Handicap at Ascot last time out over 7f. The way in which Jamie Osbourne’s gelding finished off the race to close out the contest a never-nearer fourth suggests this return to a mile should be up his street.

He’ll need to settle better than in his previous cracks at the trip, but if getting into a nice rhythm and the gaps open when needed, he’s well-treated to go close at a bit of a price. He’s got plenty of experience in these big field events and could finally get his day in the sun.

Placepot Banker

It’s no surprise but Placepot punters need not try to be too clever when it comes to the Yorkshire Oaks (Leg 4 - 15:35), with SNOWFALL the obvious pick.

The dual Oaks winner gets her ground, receives weight from two of her three closest challenges at the weights, and is simply the best middle-distance filly around at the moment. Her three wins have provided an aggregate winning distance of 28l, showing that nothing in her own generation have had any answers for her.

Enable has been the only non-3yo to take this race in the last eight years, and she only had the 100/1 chance South Sea Pearl to contend with. With the ground unlikely to be in Wonderful Tonight’s favour, it’s hard to see SNOWFALL beaten, let alone out of the first two.

The Big Trend

The Galtres Fillies Stakes (Leg 6 - 16:45) can be narrowed down by three key trends. Although we’re just looking for placed horses, previous winners throw up two clear patterns.

Each of the last 20 winners carried no more than 9-4 and had finished in the first three within their last three starts. That halves the potential for our Placepot, but when you consider that nine of the 14 horses in the frame in the last five years were rated 97+, it gives us two contenders.

ABSTINENCE didn’t get the clearest of runs when just a length behind subsequent Group 3 winner Free Wind in third last time on what was her first try at the trip. She certainly stayed and can go close with a clearer passage.

PORTFOLIO filled the same position on her first attempt at 1m4f, getting to within a length of Oaks fourth Save A Forest. Another run of that quality can see her go close.
