The Ebor Festival comes to a close this afternoon, but punters have got one final day of fantastic action to look forward to. The Strensall Stakes and City Of York Stakes lead up to the historic Ebor Handicap, one of the richest handicap races in Europe.

A popular bet on big race days like today is the Tote Placepot. We've taken a look at Tote's website to see which horses they suggest including in your Placepot on day three of the Ebor Festival.

The Big Trend

Willie Mullins is the second most successful trainer in this race in the last 20 years, having won it once and had two make the frame. He could have his best chance in the race since Senesta reigned supreme in 2009 with MT LEINSTER (Leg 4 - 15:35).

A highly-touted bumper star, his victories on the flat this year over the likes of Arcadian Sunset and subsequent Dovecote winner, Cape Gentleman, read very well.

With 22 runners going to post, we’ll have a couple more in there too. HAMISH has been supported all week and is another who could be a group performer in waiting. Last seen running a big race in the 2020 Hardwicke, he’s won twice over course and distance and can run a big race here.

At bigger odds, MAKAWEE has come down to an interesting mark and has run well at this track before.

Placepot Banker

This year’s 3yo fillies look like a particularly strong batch and we think that PRIMO BACIO (Leg 3 - 15:00) can back that notion up. She was a little unlucky in the Falmouth when finishing fifth and that form couldn’t have worked out any better with the second, third and fourth all subsequently scoring at Group 1 level since.

She was brilliant at this track earlier in the season and is by no means short of speed, so the 7f shouldn’t pose an issue. Put a line through her last run, as it came up too soft and she got no luck in running. With handy 3yo and filly allowances, she can hit the frame.

Outsider to Consider

We’ve picked out a couple against the field in the final leg of the day. MONTATHER (Leg 6 - 16:45) threw away his chance at Doncaster last time by running far too keen. However, he’s got some good form in the book prior to that and we really like the way he picked up the winner at Chelmsford before that. If getting back to that level, he’d have a good chance here.

EBURY is another who ran too freely last time but his second to La Trinidad here prior to that reads very well.

Torpedo Leg

Leg 2 (14:25) looks like fiendishly difficult handicap and it would be no surprise to see a large chunk of the pool exit here. A couple to keep on side are KING OF THE CASTLE and SUMMER’S KNIGHT.
The former is trained by Aidan O’Brien and makes only his second start in a handicap here. He relished every inch of the extended mile-and-a-half at Limerick last time and looks set to enjoy this step up in trip. The Mark Prescott charge heads here in search of a hat-trick and he could prove to be ahead of his mark of 88.
