The opening day of Sandown's Coral-Eclipse Meeting is headlined by three excellent Listed races. Two-year-olds have their chance to shine in the Dragon Stakes, before older horses take over in both the Gala Stakes and the Coral Marathon.

We've taken a look at each of the feature races and picked out our best betting tips.

Sandown Tips - Friday 2nd July

Race 1 - Dragon Stakes Tips

I really fancied INSTINCTIVE MOVE to run well in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. Sadly, Clive Cox's youngster got upset in the stalls as he waited for the other juveniles to load, and ended up being withdrawn from the race as a precaution.

Adam Kirby was in the saddle when this son of Showcasing bolted up on his debut at Bath. His dam, Peach Melba secured nearly all of her victories in soft ground, so there's plenty to suggest Instinctive Move will deal with the ground on Friday.

Race 2 - Coral Marathon Tips

A wide-open renewal of the Marathon could go the way of THE GRAND VISR, who plugged on to finish third in the Queen Alexandra Stakes last time out.

Iam Williams' stayer doesn't win all that often, but he's a very consistent performer at this level. Richard Kingscote's mount will really relish the extra cut in the ground and he'll have no trouble seeing out this two-mile trip.

Race 3 - Gala Stakes Tips

Euchen Glen's runaway victory in the Brigadier Gerard is easily the best piece of form on offer here. However, Paul Mulrennan's mount will have to try and give almost a stone to JOHN LEEPER, and Ed Dunlop's three-year-old looks well-placed to bounce back to form.

Frankie Dettori had to hold his keen-going mount up in the Epsom Derby. When it came to mounting a challenge, John Leeper had little left in the tank, and Frankie allowed him to coast him in the closing stages when he knew his race was run.

Prior to that flop, John Leeper had looked an excellent prospect and his win in the Fairway Stakes was boosted when Tasman Bay ran so well at Royal Ascot. Dropping back in trip looks a wise move, and John Leeper can become just the second three-year-old to win the Gala Stakes in the last 15 years.
