Twaasol looked a horse to follow when winning the Woodcote Stakes last time out and has to be respected. SAINT LAWRENCE has caught me eye on a number of occasions this season too, and I'd rather back Roger Varian's runner at the current prices.

Having bolted up on his second start at Redcar, Saint Lawrence took his chance in the Superlative Stakes at the July Festival. James Doyle's mount was keen early on, but warmed to his task well and coasted home under a hands-and-heels ride in fourth place.

There's clearly more to come from this talented, well-bred sort and he will improve further as the season wears on. Saint Lawrence is a big player dropping down in class.

Race 2 - Fillies' Handicap Tips

GOLDEN HIND stayed on well for second on debut, before finishing just a length behind a rival rated 83 on her only start so far this term. By the brilliant Golden Horn and a half-sister to former Falmouth Stakes winner, Amazing Maria, there's plenty to suggest that David O'Meara's filly is extremely well handicapped running off 74.

Race 3 - International Stakes Tips

The last two winners of this handicap have been six and seven, so I have no reservations in backing CLIFFS OF CAPRI to strike another blow for the older brigade. Jamie Osbourne's charge has been in great form this year, winning out in Meydan before solid placed efforts at Newmarket and in the Buckingham Palace Handicap at Royal Ascot.

Cliffs Of Capri has an excellent record over the seven-furlong strip here at Ascot, winning twice and placing three times from his five starts. Dougie Costello's mount will be carrying just 8-13 on his back, and has landed a lovely high draw down in stall 18.

12 months ago, ELARQAM hacked up through heavy ground to lower Addeybb's colours in this race. Mark Johnston will regret going for the Hardwicke Stakes last time out, as Elarqam cleary doesn't want further than a mile-and-a-quarter.

Jim Crowley's mount has been given a month to recover from that effort. If Elarqam reproduces the sort of form he showed here last year, and behind Lord North on his reappearance, then he's going to take some stopping.

Race 5 - Betfred Handicap Tips

I was really impressed with JOHAN'S performance when racing resumed at Newbury last month. William Haggas' mount sat out the back, powering through the field late on before securing a cosy victory.

Johan has gone up the ratings by eight pounds for that effort, and has to carry top-weight here. Yet, he looked a cut or two above the competition that day, and I think he can take another step forward this weekend.

Race 6 - Club Handicap Tips

A tricky little handicap this, but I fancy taking a chance on AL ERAYG at an each-way price. Tim Easterby's seven-year-old won on his return to action at Newcastle, and has run well enough to record RPRs of 89 and 92 on his two turf starts since. He can challenge off an official mark of 86 here.

Race 8 - Extra Place Races Handicap Tips

A fiendishly tricky handicap to try and unravel, but it could be worth taking a chance on VICTORY ANGEL. Rebecca Bastiman's six-year-old has dropped down the handicap significantly in the last 12 months. Victory Angel comes into this on a career-low mark of 77, despite only losing out by two lengths on both of his last two starts.

The stats show that horses drawn low seem to have an edge over six furlongs at York. Sam James will have plenty of pace to aim at, with Tukhoom and Autumn Flight drawn on his side of the track, and he could come with a late rattle to snatch a share of the places.

Race 9 - betfred.com Handicap Tips

This doesn't look a particularly strong handicap, so you can see why twice-raced three-year-old Media Storm is fancied. I, however, would rather take a punt on the oldest horse in the field, FRONTISPIECE.

Amanda Perrett's charge is used to carrying big weights in handicaps, winning under 9-10 over 14 furlongs at Newbury last summer. Frontsipiece returned from a lengthy absence with a solid second behind Country at Newmarket, and could give each-way backers a real run for their money.
