Leg 1 - Dakota Gold

The first leg comes in the shape of the Listed Rous Stakes from Ascot, where Dakota Gold can get back to winning ways for the first time since landing a hat-trick in 2020, the best of those coming in the Group 3 Bengough Stakes at York. He has been lightly raced this year and didn’t exactly fire in the Beverley Bullet last time, but with the easing ground certainly a boost to his chances, he could return back to form.

Leg 2 - Fearby

Fearby is hoping to score for the third time this year and can do just that in the hands of Ryan Moore in Leg 2. He’s already been a winner at Listed level this season, and has run creditably in Group races on his last three starts, including when a close third in the Mill Reef at Newbury just a fortnight ago.

He’s also a lover of some cut in the ground and hasn’t finished outside the first two in his two starts on soft going, including a win in the Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown. Any further rain certainly wouldn’t hinder his chances and he looks the one to beat.

Leg 3 - Mother Earth

The Group One Sun Chariot Stakes looks to be a fascinating race on paper, but this renewal can go the way of Mother Earth in Leg 3. She won the 1000 Guineas over course and distance back in May, which gives her vital experience of the undulations on the Rowley Mile. She’s remained super consistent since then, without being a prolific winner, but did score in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville.

She was perhaps unlucky not to add another win to her record when suffering trouble in running when coming to win the race in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown last time, so connections will be keen to set the record straight. Softer conditions won’t be a concern and that might give her the edge over Snow Lantern, who has already finished ahead of her twice this season.

Leg 4 - Great Ambassador

Back at Ascot, Leg 4 looks a good opportunity for Great Ambassador to get his head in front again after narrowly missing out in the Ayr Gold Cup last week. He was clear of his group on the far side, but couldn’t quite match Bielsa, who made his own passage down the standside rail to take the spoils by just over two lengths. He remains highly progressive under the watchful eye of trainer Ed Walker and he’ll be a big player once again here at Ascot.

Leg 5 - Symphony Perfect

Kevin Ryan trained the winning of the Ayr Gold Cup in Bielsa last weekend and although he has another strong chance of being the man to follow in Leg 5 of the Scoop6 at Redcar with Anadora, his chances may be overshadowed by Richard Hannon’s Symphony Perfect. She was second in the Super Sprint at Newbury in July, and has posted decent efforts in big field events the last twice and may well be suited by this return to five furlongs. His trainer also has a notable strike rate at Redcar, with 9 winners from 43 runners at a win rate of 20.93%.

Leg 6 - River Nymph

With 18 declared for the Challenge Cup at Ascot in the final leg, it might seem a tricky race to tackle, but history tells you that this normally goes to a well fancied runner and very often, the favourite. River Nymph can continue that trend, after making it two from two over this course and distance in May, including the Victoria Cup, where he came out on top in a field of 26 runners.

That big field experience ought to serve him well this Saturday, and after returning from a short absence to finish fourth in Listed company last time, he could prove to be a step above his counterparts this weekend.
