An action-packed afternoon of ITV Racing on Saturday is headlined by the Solario Stakes at Sandown. Many future Classic winners have claimed this Group Three during their juvenile season, including Oh So Sharp, Kingman and 2018 Epsom Derby winner, Masar.

2024 Solario Stakes Runners

Newmarket maiden winner, Field Of Gold tops the early betting for John Gosden, who needs one victory to pull clear of Sir Henry Cecil as the winning-most trainer in this contest. Karl Burke's Tiger Mask will bring Group Two form into this contest, having finished fourth behind Aomori City in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood.

Ralph Beckett's Matauri Bay will jump up into Group Three company on the back of an impressive debut victory at Leicester. Royal Playwright for Andrew Balding, and George Boughey's Asuka will also defend unbeaten records in the Solario, having made winning debuts at Salisbury and Newmarket respectively.

Experienced juvenile An Outlaw's Grace goes for Sean Levey and Richard Hannon. Rossa Ryan rides Hott Shott for Richard Hughes. Charlie Hills' Victory Sound and Zou's Your Daddy for Simon Pearce round off the field.

2024 Solario Stakes Tips

Having followed An Outlaw's Grace on his three most recent starts, I won't be going in again. It would be typical if Richard Hannon's juvenile landed a decent pot when my money wasn't down, but there are less-exposed runners in this Group Three who hold better chances.

Field Of Gold was extremely impressive when scoring at Newmarket and could be hard to beat if he's taken another step forward. Royal Playwright won well on debut at Salisbury and he comes from a quality family that Andrew Balding knows well. Both deserve their places in the betting.

I'm going to take a chance on MATAURI BAY (9/2) who, like Royal Playwright, impressed when making a winning debut at Leicester. Ralph Beckett's newcomer was backed into favouritism before the off, travelled nicely under Hector Crouch and stretched a length-and-a-half clear of a decent field in the closing stages.

Matauri Bay has two full siblings, both of whom did their best work at two. Dragon Icon was handed a rating of 95 after winning twice as a juvenile, while Aunt Pearl enjoyed an unbeaten two-year-old campaign in the States, beating future 1000 Guineas winner Mother Earth to land the 2020 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Shah, second to Matauri Bay at Leicester, gave Angelo Buonarroti a scare on his second maiden outing at the Ebor Festival, so that form looks fairly solid. Ralph Beckett's runners often do well at Sandown and I'm sure he'll have high hopes for Matauri Bay going into this open contest.
