2022 Ascot Gold Cup Entries

Alan King's Trueshan rounded off last season with victories in the Goodwood Cup, Prix du Cadran and the Long Distance Cup here at Ascot. Hollie Doyle's mount returned to action with a comfortable win at Nottingham and it's Trueshan who tops the current Ascot Gold Cup betting.

Trueshan has been joined at the head of the betting in recent weeks by Aidan O'Brien's Kyprios, who has won the Vintage Crop and Levermoss Stakes at home in Ireland this season. Former three-time Gold Cup winner, Stradivarius bounced back to winning form on his reappearance at York and John Gosden's star will have another crack at landing his fourth Gold Cup on Thursday.

Ralph Beckett's Scope landed the Prix Royal Oak at Longchamp last season and ran a cracker on his reappearance in the Al Rayyan Stakes. Last year's Gold Cup runner-up, Princess Zoe limbered up for her return to the Royal Meeting by winning the Sagaro Stakes here at Ascot, and Tony Mullins' mare can also be backed at a single-figure price.

Kyprios could be joined in the field by stablemate Cleveland, who was last seen winning the Chester Cup. Fellow last time out winners, Earlofthecotswold and Skazino have also been handed Gold Cup entries.

Last year's Derby and St Leger runner-up, Mojo Star could make his reappearance at Royal Ascot. Other possible runners include Joseph O'Brien's Baron Samedi, Willie Mullins' Burning Victory, Brian Ellison's Tashkhan and Ian Williams' Enemy.
