The Prince and Princess Of Wales made their debuts at Royal Ascot 2023 on day four, where the Commonwealth Cup kicked off the Group One action.

All eyes were on Little Big Bear, as Aidan O'Brien's star sprinter was backed into odds-on before the off. Having won the opening Albany Stakes, Frankie Dettori's mount Lezoo was cut into second-favouritism, ahead of Roger Varian's contender Sakheer, who had drifted in the betting throughout the build-up.

Julie Camacho had a rare Group One runner with the in-form Shaquille. Charlie Appleby was double-handed, running both Noble Style and Mischief Magic, with the consistent Shouldvebeenaring also featuring in a classy field.

Shaquille, who was taken down early by Oisin Murphy, reared coming out of the stalls and gave the field a head-start. Swingalong made the running down the centre of the track, with Little Big Bear tracking the leader in the early stages.

With two furlongs to travel, Ryan Moore angled the favourite out to make his challenge. Little Big Bear moved into a slender leader, but the eyes were drawn to Oisin Murphy, who had weaved is way through the field and pounced down the inside rail.

The odds-on favourite attempted to knuckle down, but under a fantastic head of steam, Shaquille hit the front and stretched a length clear of Little Big Bear on the run to the line. Karl Burke will have been delighted with Swingalong, who stayed on gamely to finish third ahead of Ocean Quest.

Julie Camacho, a stalwart of British training, celebrated her first Group One victory in the winner's enclosure at Royal Ascot. What a brilliant training performance!
