Tips and predictions for the 2018 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot which is shaping up to be UK vs. Australia.
Harry Angel is the main local hope and the current bookmakers' favourite at 5/1 but there's value with The Everest winner Redzel, which is currently on the third line of betting at 8/1.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained sprinter is nearing the $9 million mark after winning the inaugural Everest at Randwick in 2017 and his form since has included wins in the Group 1 Darley Classic and Group 2 Challenge.
Redzel has a professional record of 12 wins from 23 starts and his return on income currently sits at 146 percent.
The son of Snitzel runs this Saturday on Day 1 of The Championships and should he come through that run well, we're expecting his flamboyant connections to bring him over to Royal Ascot in June.
Should he line up, expect his current odds to dramatically shorten and given the success of Choisir and Black Caviar in recent history, we wouldn't put it past Redzel to win for the Australians again.
Harry Angel is the biggest threat to Redzel and despite having never won at Royal Ascot, the time will come shortly.
The Clive Cox-trained colt finished second in the Commonwealth Cup at Ascot last season and finishing second behind Caravaggio shouldn't be counted against his chances in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
He has since beaten Caravaggio in the July Cup and form out of that race typically stacks up nicely come June.
The dynamic son of Dark Angel is another value chance at 5/1 and like Redzel, we're expecting his odds to shorten come race day.
Our third tip is Australian sprinter Merchant Navy, which was recently acquired by Coolmore Stud.
The three-year-old has finished close in behind some talented Australian sprinters, including fellow nominee Redkirk Warrior and Coolmore has big international plans with this talented runner.
He can handle any ground conditions and he looks ready made to run well down the Royal Ascot straight.
Don't sleep on the classy colt at 8/1 with bookmakers.
