Royal Ascot kicks off in fantastic fashion, as many of the best milers in the sport battle it out in the Queen Anne Stakes. This historic Group One has been won by many legendary horses and this year's renewal is shaping up to be a thrilling contest.

The Queen Anne Stakes has provided punters with plenty of joy in recent seasons. Seven of the last ten renewals of the opener to Royal Ascot have been won by the favourite and I'd be very surprised if Frankie Fever didn't see INSPIRAL get pushed to the head of the betting.
A stand-out filly at two, John and Thady Gosden's star blitzed the competition on her reappearance in the Coronation Stakes 12 months ago, running up to a superb RPR of 123. Inspiral's form petered off a little after that victory - a statement that some may view as slightly unfair, considering she finished second in a Falmouth and added a third Group One to her collection in the Jacques Le Marois.
Like last year, Inspiral's reappearance has been delayed until Royal Ascot, after Gosden's filly missed her intended comeback in the Lockinge. Skipping the 1000 Guineas to head straight to Ascot did Inspiral no harm 12 months ago and she could have the beating of the two Charlie Appleby colts sitting either side of her in the market.

Having two bets in a race where only three paid places will be available doesn't seem particularly smart. However, I'm keen to draw attention to my ante-post selection, BERKSHIRE SHADOW, who remains overpriced at 33/1.
A winner of the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot 2021, Berkshire Shadow has returned to top form since being gelded last year. Andrew Balding's star claimed back-to-back victories on the all-weather, before running into the places in last month's Lockinge Stakes.
Oisin Murphy's mount was a little slowly away at Newbury, but responded to pressure well throughout the race and crossed the line just two-and-a-half lengths behind Modern Games. Given his recent form and an impressive record at this meeting, Berkshire Shadow is surely overpriced at 33/1.

Verdict
