Royal Ascot reaches its penultimate day on Friday, with the Commonwealth Cup and Coronation Stakes acting as co-main events. Around the two Group Ones, racing fans have a couple of other pattern races and three huge handicaps to sink their teeth into on day four.

Here are my best betting tips on day four of Royal Ascot...

Royal Ascot 2024 Day 4 Tips

2:30pm Ascot - Albany Stakes Tips

The two Ballydoyle runners warrant plenty of respect, as does Mountain Breeze for Charlie Appleby. However, I like the look of Wesley Ward's raider BURNING PINE (14/1), who won well without breaking a sweat on debut at Keeneland.

Joel Rosario set out to make all and never moved a muscle in the saddle as his mount claimed an easy three-and-a-half lengths success. Burning Pine is bred to get at least a mile and horses who do well in the Albany have historically stepped up to that distance later in their careers. It's been four years since Wesley Ward last tasted juvenile success at Royal Ascot, but this daughter of Nyquist could end his wait for a ninth two-year-old winner.

4:25pm Ascot - Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes Tips

Okita Soushi ended Ireland's 22-year wait for another winner of this handicap 12 months ago and raiders currently dominate this betting heat. Ryan Moore rides Willie Mullins' Ethical Diamond, who was narrowly beaten by Saturn on his return to flat racing at the Curragh last month.

Johnny Murtagh, who scored aboard John Oxx's Katiykha in the 2000 renewal of the Duke Of Edinburgh, will be represented by SAFECRACKER (16/1). Murtagh's six-year-old finished fifth behind two of today's rivals, Crystal Black and Deakin on his reappearance last month, where he seemed to get outpaced over ten furlongs but finished the race well.

Safecracker progressed nicely over a mile-and-half last term, winning a competitive premier handicap at the Curragh in July off a mark of 97. Murtagh's raider is expected to come on for that return to action and William Buick has been booked to ride the sole Godolphin representative.

5:05pm Ascot - Sandringham Stakes Tips

Despite the size of the field that always enters this handicap, only three of the last ten winners have returned an SP longer than 13/2, with five favourites winning in that period. Indelible looks well treated and Aidan O'Brien's two runners could play a part. Yet, I fancy two other handicap debutantes sitting at much longer prices.

SOPRANO (25/1) was only beaten two lengths in last year's Albany Stakes. George Boughey's filly then registered placed efforts behind Shuwari, Fallen Angel and Juniper Berries at pattern level, before rounding off her campaign with an outing in the Cheveley Park Stakes.

After finished fifth on her reappearance on the all-weather, Billy Loughnane's mount relished the step back up to seven furlongs in a Listed contest at Musselburgh, staying on powerfully to finish third. This looks like the ideal opportunity to step Soprano up to a mile and "Billy The Kid" will be high on confidence, having ridden his first Royal Ascot winner on day one.

Another with some strong back form to her name is MARCELLA (50/1). Andrew Balding's filly won on her second maiden outing at Chester, before finishing fifth in a red-hot renewal of the Ascendent Stakes. On her reappearance at Kempton, Marcella was touched off by Devoted Queen, who followed up with an impressive Listed success at York and had been due to run in the Coronation Stakes.

Marcella then finished a weak fifth behind Royal Dress at Goodwood and could never get involved in the German 1000 Guineas three weeks later. David Probert's mount is on somewhat of a comeback mission as she drops into handicap company, but the conditions of this race should suit and she looks well-handicapped off a mark of 90.

5:40pm Ascot - King Edward VII Stakes Tips

Another race that's been kind to punters in recent years, with four of the last five renewals going the way of the favourite. Diego Velazquez brings the best form to the table, but he's currently locked in a battle for favouritism with SPACE LEGEND (7/2), who caught a horror trip at Goodwood last time out.

William Haggas' rising star went into the Cocked Hat Stakes on the back of a rampant maiden victory at Leicester. Tom Marquand got stuck behind a wall of runners entering the straight, allowing Meydaan to open up a sizeable lead. Space Legend quickly ate into that advantage once he found open air, but the finishing line came just at the wrong time.

Meydaan did the form of that Listed contest no harm at all by finishing fourth in the Queen's Vase on day two. Wathnan Racing will have paid a pretty penny to purchase this son of Sea The Stars in the days leading up to Royal Ascot. Space Legend clearly possesses plenty of ability.

6:15pm Ascot - Palace Of Holyrood House Stakes Tips

I've found two to back at each-way prices in Friday's card-closer, starting with DARK VINTAGE (22/1), who learnt his trade as a sprinter in America before moving to Richard Fahey in the spring.

Dark Vintage couldn't make any progress from a horrible position on the rail on his stable debut at Sandown. Fahey's recruit was posted wide at the rear in the Westow Stakes on his most recent run, but kept on well to finish third behind Big Evs. Billy Garritty's mount showed a clear improvement between his first and second runs for the stable and looks well-treated off this mark of 95.

My second, and more interesting selection is MON NA SLIEVE (50/1), who took on Dark Vintage as he made his reappearance in the Westow Stakes. Kevin Ryan's sprinter was slowly away and ran a solo effort down the stand's rail for much of that contest, eventually finishing five lengths behind Big Evs in fifth.

Mon Na Slieve caught the eye with how well he travelled in the Norfolk Stakes last season. That effort eventually petered out and he showed little on his final two juvenile starts. With that run at York under his belt and the return to quicker ground on his side, I fancy Jamie Spencer's mount will outrun his current lengthy odds.
