The final Group One on the opening day of Royal Ascot is the St James's Palace Stakes. This historic three-year-old contest was first staged during the Royal Meeting in 1834, and it's this year's 2000 Guineas winner who heads the current betting.

Poetic Flare handed Jim Bolger a famous victory in the 2000 Guineas at the start of last month. Since then, Kevin Manning's mount has tasted defeat in both the French and Irish versions of that Classic, but that hasn't stopped Betfred installing Poetic Flare as their 10/3 favourite.
Unbeaten colt Mostahdaf sits second in the market, just ahead of Highland Avenue, who he beat in the Heron Stakes at Sandown. Battleground and Wembley look set to fly the flag for Aidan O'Brien, while Joseph O'Brien has Thunder Moon in the current entries.
Lucky Vega and Chindit both ran well in the 2000 Guineas, and could enter this Group One at Royal Ascot. La Barrosa and One Ruler have also been entered up by Charlie Appleby and Godolphin.
Other likely Royal Ascot runners include Maximal, Tactical, Baradar and Naval Crown. Naamoos, Rhythm Master and State Of Rest could also make an appearance in this year's St James's Palace Stakes.
