Doncaster Mile 2018 winner - Happy Clapper
Doncaster Mile 2018 race recap
Happy Clapper proved to be the best weight-for-age miler in Australia (without Winx) when scoring a two-length win the Doncaster Mile 2018.
The Patrick Webster-trained gelding came into the race as one of the favourites at $5 and he asserted his authority by beating the likes of Comin' Through and Arbeitsam comfortably on the line.
Drawing the inside barrier allowed jockey Blake Shinn to wait patiently for an opening in the straight and Happy Clapper took it with power.
Finishing just out of the placings was quality three-year-old D'argento, which bypassed the Australian Derby to run against older horses in the Doncaster Mile.
