2019 The Everest Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

The Everest is arguably the most exciting thoroughbred horse race in the world and it all goes down this October in Sydney.

Worth a massive sum of money, The Everest is a unique concept where slot holders choose their runner and the connections come to an agreement.

Redzel has won the first two editions of the Everest and he’ll be lining up for a chance to increase his Everest legacy. However, there are horses in better form looking to dethrone the champion.

Santa Ana Lane, Osborne Bulls and Sunlight are all likely to get a run in The Everest and it’s going to make for an all-time sprint race in Australia.

2019 Everest Best Bet – Santa Ana Lane @ 5.00

Santa Ana Lane has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of seasons.

The six-year-old sprinter won the VRC Sprint Classic at Flemington before winning the Group 1 TJ Smith during The Championships.

That’s great form coming into The Everest and although he was beaten in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize in Hong Kong, he was never going to travel well overseas.

He’s better on home soil and with 10 wins from 34 career starts, Santa Ana Lane brings in a fair amount of class and over $5.3 million in the bank.

Most of the money has come for Santa Ana Lane and the 5.00 is holding steady.

2019 Everest Best Each Way – Sunlight @ 11.00

We are big fans of Sunlight and the classy mare should give punters a good sight.

The four-year-old is a winner of $4.3 million in only 16 starts and with 10 wins already under her belt, she’s one of the best and most underrated runners in Australia.

She was beaten by Santa Ana Lane in the TJ Smith Stakes when last in work, but she was giving away plenty of experience and age.

Now as an older mare, she should be fitter for her spring campaign.

Much like Santa Ana Lane, she scored consecutive Group 1 wins in the Newmarket Handicap and William Reid Stakes.

That’s hot form and we’re confident of another top effort come October.

2019 Everest Best Roughie – Classique Legend @ 11.00

Classique Legend will be thrown into the deep end here but the three-year-old has a good future ahead of him.

The Les Bridge-trained sprinter has won two of his three starts and he was very unlucky to not win his second start to the races.

He made amends by winning the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint and punters will be in his camp.

Unfortunately, because of his ownership group, he’ll likely be shipped to Hong Kong following this season so Australian punters should climb aboard when they have the chance.

9.00 is a fraction short given that he’s had only three starts, but he’s an exciting type and is worth following.
