The Everest 2018 Tips & Betting Predictions

Australia's and some of the world's best sprinters will battle it out for $10 million at Randwick on October 13. First run in 2017, The Everest is now Australia's biggest thoroughbred race and 12 of the very best will line up this year.

2017 winner Redzel will likely take its place in the field but favouritism currently sits with Trapeze Artist, which was originally heading to stud before showing enough ability to line up in The Everest. It's going to be a great race during the Sydney Spring Carnival and it broke all sorts of betting figures last year.

The Everest 2018 Best Bet - Vega Magic

Vega Magic was the firm favourite in the 2017 Everest and the 13-time winner didn't lose any admirers. Trained by Lindsay Park, the five-year-old gelding has lost some followers since that run but he looked in fine form winning the Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield.

That was his first run of the preparation and he didn't give the opposition as look-in, scoring by three lengths. That put the son of Lope de Vega firmly back into Everest contention and we can't believe the odds bookmakers are offering. $10 for a former favourite in this race, which got back to his best form last start.

Expect Vega Magic to continue his progression and those odds to be slashed in quick time.

The Everest 2018 Best Each Way - Nature Strip

Nature Strip has all but guaranteed itself a spot in the field and although there are some doubters saying he can't win at this level, he has gone from strength to strength this season.

The three-year-old has been passed around a few stables in Victoria but Darren Weir has worked his magic and managed to keep the talented sprinter unbeaten in his care. Nature Strip has won seven from 10 starts and absolutely destroyed Magic Millions winner Sunlight in a recent start at Morphettville.

He scored by 5.9 lengths in a one-sided display and no doubt the phones were calling from prospective slot holders. Bookmakers were also forced to lower his price, which is still amazingly set at 11.00.

The Everest 2018 Roughie Tip - In Her Time

Unlucky to not get a start last year, In Her Time could make amends this time around. The Ben Smith-trained mare scored a win in the consolation Sydney Stakes on the same day at Randwick and although she was disappointing in the Doomben 10,000, her record includes placings in the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes and Group 1 Manikato Stakes and also a win in the Group 1 Galaxy.

She won't need to improve much to win and if the pace is on up front, expect the 13.00 chance to be storming home.

Best Bet: Vega Magic @ 10.00
Best Each Way: Nature Strip @ 11.00
Best Roughie: In Her Time @ 13.00
