A wide-open renewal of the Dante Stakes produced an excellent contest at York on Thursday. Oisin Murphy and Andrew Balding came out victorious, as The Foxes held off White Birch to claim victory, afterwhich the winner was cut into 8/1 for the Epsom Derby by bet365.

For the second day in a row, Frankie Dettori entered the winners' enclosure at York, after guiding Free Wind to victory in the Middleton Stakes. Having ridden the Dante winner, Oisin Murphy collected his second trophy on the afternoon by riding Great State to victory in the Listed Westow Stakes.

Title rival William Buick had earlier won the Hambleton Handicap aboard Croupier for Simon & Ed Crisford. North Yorkshire-based Ed Bethell celebrated a rare ITV winner on Thursday, after Callum Rodriguez steered Regional to victory in the Lindum York Handicap.

Dominic Ffrench Davis then got on the scoresheet as the well-backed Cuban Thunder won the six-furlong maiden for Amo Racing.
