The red carpet was rolled out for Stradivarius, as John Gosden's legendary stayer kicked off his final season on the track with an outing in the Yorkshire Cup. Frankie Dettori's mount won this Group Two in 2019 and 2020 and the stand's erupted as Stradivarius swooped home down the rail to win his third Yorkshire Cup.

Stradivarius will now go on to the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, before a swansong in the Goodwood Cup. Following his win on Friday, QuinnBet made Stradivarius a 3/1 shot in their betting for the 2022 Ascot Gold Cup.

Karl Burke celebrated an ITV Racing double at York on Friday. Pillow Talk boosted her Royal Ascot credentials with a fine victory in the Marygate Fillies' Stakes. Al Qareem then made all to win the Paddy Power Handicap, and will now be pointed at the King George VI Stakes Handicap on day three of the Royal Meeting.

Tim Easterby's Bollin Joan held off Rogue Bear to win the 10 furlong handicap on Yorkshire Cup day. Kevin Ryan's Fonteyn then broke her maiden tag by winning the Listed Michael Seely Memorial Stakes.

Il Bandito won the Yorkshire Equine Practice Handicap for James Horton. Karl Burke then completed a fantastic treble, as Korker justified favouritism to win the final race of the Dante Meeting, the Longines Irish Champions Weekend Handicap.
