Defending champions Canada are one win away from a return to the World Championship Final.

They began the tournament with a couple of convincing wins, beating Italy 6-1 and Slovakia 5-1.

Kazakhstan gave them a couple of early scares in their next games, but the Canadians responded and twice rallied for a 6-3 victory.

That was followed up by a 6-3 win against Switzerland, before Canada suffered their first, and so far only, defeat of the tournament.

The Canadians were surprising beaten 3-2 by Denmark.

They responded to that loss in the final group game with an emphatic win, routing France 7-1.

Canada then booked their spot in the semi-finals with a 4-3 overtime win over a tough Sweden team in the quarter-finals.

Czech Republic Form

The Czech Republic have won five of their eight games on their way to the semi-finals of the World Championship.

The Czechs began the tournament with a 5-1 victory over Great Britain, but were beaten 5-3 by Sweden in their second outing.

That became back-to-back losses with a surprise shootout defeat to Austria, but they soon got back on track.

The Czech Republic rolled over Latvia in a 5-1 victory and then followed that up with a 4-1 victory against Norway.

They made it three wins in a row with a 1-0 win over fellow semi-finalists, the United States, but their final group game ended in defeat.

The Czechs were beaten 3-0 by another semi-finalist, and tournament favourites, Finland.

Despite the loss they advanced to the quarter-finals and there they downed Germany 4-1 to advance.
