Canada are tipped to cover the Puck Line as they advance to the semi-finals.

The Maple Leafs were efficient in the group stage and are likely to step things up in the knockouts.

Canada head into the quarter-final of the tournament boasting an unbeaten record after seven consecutive wins.

The Maple Leafs, who won this tournament a year ago, made a successful start as they followed up a 4-2 win over Great Britain with a 5-1 victory against Denmark.

They then needed overtime to edge Austria 7-6, before making routine work of Norway with a 4-1 win.

Canada then took control of the group stage by following up a 5-3 victory over Finland with a 3-2 success against Switzerland.

The Maple Leafs then completed a perfect group campaign with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Czech Republic.

Slovakia Form

Slovakia advanced to the knockout stage by winning four of their seven group games to finish fourth in Group B.

The Slovakians exited after the group stage a year ago, and they made a losing start to this tournament as they were beaten 6-4 by Germany.

They responded with a 6-2 victory over Kazakhstan and then backed that up with a 5-4 overtime upset of the United States.

Slovakia then shut out Poland in a 4-0 victory, before beating France 4-2 in what proved to be their final win in the group stage.

The Slovakians’ run was halted by a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Latvia, and they then concluded the group stage with a 6-1 blowout defeat to Sweden.

Verdict

Canada v Slovakia

It is time for Canada to step up their game and we expect that to happen in this matchup.

The Maple Leafs are the much better team and should be able to make straightforward work of a Slovakia team that just got crushed by Sweden and could be without a key offensive player.
