The Danes began the year with a 5-2 defeat to Norway, but rebounded 24 hours later with a 6-1 blowout of Austria.

They backed that up in April as they ran out 6-2 winners against Hungary, only to lose 4-2 when the two teams met again 24 hours later.

Denmark do head into the Ice Hockey World Championship on the back of a win though, having ended last month with a 5-2 victory over Slovenia.

The Danes will now aim to better their showing at the 2024 Ice Hockey World Championship, where they won just twice before bowing out at the end of the group stage.

United States Form

The United States go into the Ice Hockey World Championship looking to end a gold medal drought in this competition that dates all the way back to 1960.

Last year they overcame a couple of group stage defeats to advance to the knockout stage, but their run was short-lived.

The USA were dumped out in the quarter-finals by eventual winners the Czech Republic, losing 1-0.

They go into this year’s tournament on the back of a victory over one of the favourites to win it all, Germany.

The United States and the Germans met last weekend, and it was the Americans who ran out winners, taking it 5-2.
