The Finns began the World Championship with a three-game win streak that included a victory over Saturday’s opponents.

Having beaten Norway 5-0 and Latvia 2-0 to get off to a strong start, they then eased to a 4-1 win against the United States.

That victory was followed by their sole loss of the tournament so far – a shootout a defeat to Sweden.

Finland have not lost a game since then, however.

They bounced back with a 6-0 demolition of Great Britain, before running out 3-0 winners against both Austria and the Czech Republic to wrap up the group stage.

The Finns then booked a place in the semi-finals with a 4-2 victory over Slovakia in the quarter-finals.

United States Form

The United States have underwhelmed so far, but they are through to the World Championship semi-finals.

The USA made a good start with a 4-1 win against Latvia, but that was as good as it got early on.

They needed overtime to beat Austria 3-2 and then suffered a 4-1 blowout defeat to the United States.

The Americans avoided back-to-back losses with a 3-0 victory over Great Britain, and then turned in their best result so far with a surprise 3-2 overtime win against Sweden.

They failed to build on that though, losing 1-0 to the Czech Republic in their penultimate group game.

The United States were able to wrap up the group stage with a victory, beating Norway 4-2.

They then secured a place in the final four of this tournament with a 3-0 quarter-final win over Switzerland.
