Kazakhstan vs Sweden Predictions

Sweden are the only team in the group to win all three games so far. Their performances against Germany and USA were stunning, so I don’t see Kazakhstan avoiding the same fate.

Kazakhstan had a great start to the World Cup 2024, claiming points as underdogs against France 3-1. After conceding an early goal, Roman Starchenko and Maxim Mukhametov found the net in the first period. The final score was set by Kirill Savitsky in the second period.

Two follow-up contests were not so great though, losing 6-2 to Slovakia, followed by another defeat 2-0 against Latvia.

The Kazakhs played just two friendly matches to warm up for the tournament. They were defeated in the first test match by Belarus 5-4 but bounced back a couple of days later against the Great Britain 5-2.

Sweden Form

Sweden had a great start to the World Cup 2024, beating USA 5-2 in the opening round, Joel Eriksson being the man of the match with two goals and one assist.

They earned slightly more convincing victory in the second round against underdog Poland 5-1, Erik Karlsson ending the match with three points.

Another great performance was seen in the third match against Germany, earning a convincing 6-1 victory, Andre Burakovsky ending the match with three points (one goal and two assists).

Sweden failed to make it past the quarter-finals in the Ice Hockey World Championship a year ago, as they were beaten 3-1 by a Latvia team that finished fourth.

Kazakhstan v Sweden

Sweden have won all their games so far despite a tough schedule, scoring 16 goals and allowing just 4. I don’t think Kazakhstan stand a chance on Thursday and expect a convincing defeat for them.
