Carolina Hurricanes Form

Carolina breathed new life into their postseason with victory in Game 3 in Tampa.

The Hurricanes were in trouble after failing to make the most of home ice advantage in Games 1 & 2.

They lost both of those matchups by a score of 2-1 and that left them needing at least one win Florida.

Carolina blew a two-goal lead in the second period of Game 3 as they threatened to throw away a huge win.

They rebounded in overtime though with Jordan Staal’s winner handing them a 3-2 win.

The Hurricanes were without Nino Niederreiter (upper body) and Vincent Trocheck (lower body) for that win and they remain day-to-day in the injury report.

Tampa Bay Lighting Form

Tampa Bay failed to take full advantage of two wins in Carolina as they were beaten in their first home game of the series.

The Lighting were 2-1 winners in both Games 1 & 2 in Carolina as they took control of the series.

However, they suffered their second defeat in four home games to let the Hurricanes back into it.

Tampa responded well to going two goals down in the second period, with Brayden Point and Alex Killorn levelling it up on the power play before the end of the period.

They failed to complete the comeback though, allowing an overtime goal that handed Carolina a 3-2 win.

The Lightning will look to bounce back in Game 4 and the good news is there are no frash faces on the injury report.

David Savard (upper body) remains day-to-day, with Anders Nilsson (concussion) and Marian Gaborik (back) out indefinitely.
