Colorado Avalanche Form

Colorado are a team in red-hot form after ruthlessly dispatching St Louis and taking the first two games of this series with Vegas.

The Avalanche won 8 of their last 9 games to storm into the postseason and continued in that form against the Blues.

A 4-1 victory in Game 1 proved to be a sign of things to come as they romped to victory in four straight games.

They took Game 2 by a score of 6-3 and then dominated the Blues in St Louis with 5-1 and 5-2 wins.

Colorado then picked up from where they left off in Game 1 of this series, crushing Vegas 7-1.

Game 2 was much closer, but the Avalanche got the job done with a 3-2 overtime win.

There is no change on the injury report with Jayson Megna (COVID-19) still day-to-day.

Matt Calvert (undisclosed) is week-to-week, but Nazem Kadri (suspended), Logan O’Connor (lower body), Erik Johnson (upper body) and Pavel Francouz (lower body) are all out.

Vegas Golden Knights Form

Vegas have underwhelmed in the playoffs so far and now find themselves in need of a win.

The Golden Knights bounced back from losing Game 1 to win three straight against Minnesota in the last round.

3-1, 5-2 and 4-0 victories put them on the brink of going through, but they almost threw it all away.

Vegas lost 4-2 and 3-0 as the series went to Game 7, but they lifted their game for the decider and won it 6-2.

They were brought back down to Earth with a 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Colorado in Game 1.

The Golden Knights now find themselves 2-0 down after falling to a 3-2 overtime defeat on Wednesday.

Ryan Reaves remains suspended for his part in a Game 1 bust-up with Ryan Graves.

There are several players now considered day-to-day on the injury report.

They are Robin Lehner (undisclosed), Mattias Janmark (upper body), Tomas Nosek (undisclosed), Brayden McNabb (COVID-19) and Peyton Krebs (jaw).

Verdict

These two teams boast two of the very best goalies in the NHL so goals may be hard to come by.

The under was a winner in Game 2 and has been a winner on 3 of the 4 meetings in Vegas so far. That trend could continue in Game 3.
