Dallas travel to Colorado with another chance to wrap up this series after throwing away their opportunity in Game 5.

The Stars, who went 52-21-9 in the regular season, got off to a nightmare start in the playoffs as they lost 4-3 and 3-1 at home to Vegas.

They responded in style, winning 3-2 (OT) and 4-2 in Vegas and 3-2 at home, before responding to a 2-0 road defeat with a series-clinching 2-1 victory in Game 7.

Dallas made a losing start to this series too, suffering a 4-3 overtime defeat at home to Colorado, but just like in the previous round they won the next three games, 5-3, 4-1 and 5-1.

The Stars were unable to make it four-in-a-row though, as they were beaten 5-3 at home by the Avalanche on Wednesday.

Colorado head back home having kept their Stanley Cup dream alive with a victory in Dallas on Wednesday.

The Avalanche, who went 50-25-7 in the regular season, overcame an early miss-fire to march into the second round of the playoffs.

They responded to a 7-6 defeat in Winnipeg with 5-2, 6-2, 5-1 and 6-3 victories to wrap up the series in five games.

Colorado then made it five wins in a row with a 4-3 overtime win in Dallas in the opening game of this series, only to then lose the next three games.

Staring elimination in the face after 5-3, 4-1 and 5-1 defeats, the Avalanche kept themselves in the hunt with a 5-3 victory in Game 5.
