Dallas go into Game 4 of this series knowing that another victory on the road will give them the opportunity to clinch at home next week.

The Stars opened this series with back-to-back home games but saw them losing skid reach eight games as they lost 5-1 to Colorado in Game 1.

They rebounded to take the next game though, running out 4-3 winners in overtime, and they backed that up in their first road game of the series as they won 2-1 in overtime.

Dallas earned their place in the playoffs by putting together a 50-26-6 regular-season record to finish second in the Central Division.

In doing so, the Stars reached the postseason for the fourth year in a row, and they have made it to the conference finals in each of the last two.

Colorado go into this game looking to snap a two-game losing skid and level up this series before heading back to Dallas.

The Avalanche made an ideal start to this series as they won the opening game on the road, beating the Stars 5-1.

They failed to back that up over the next two games though, losing 4-3 in overtime on the road before returning home to lose 2-1 in overtime.

Colorado claimed their spot in the postseason by compiling a 49-29-4 record to finish third in the Central Division standings.

This is the eighth straight season that the Avalanche have made it to the playoffs, and last season they were dumped out in the second round by the Stars.
