The Panthers began the playoffs on the road and got off to a dream start as they won both games at the Amalie Arena.

They beat the Lightning 6-2 and 2-0 to give themselves a huge advantage in the series, and the chance to complete a series sweep at home.

Florida passed up on that chance as they lost 5-1 in Game 3, but they rebounded on Monday and took a 3-1 series lead thanks to a 4-2 victory.

The Panthers earned their place in the playoffs by finishing third in the Atlantic Division standings with a 47-31-4 record.

Tampa Bay Lightning Form

Tampa Bay find themselves in a ‘must-win’ situation after suffering a third defeat in the series on Monday night.

The Lighting came into the series with home advantage but made a miserable start as they lost back-to-back games.

They surrendered their advantage with 6-2 and 2-0 defeats to the Panthers, before rallying with a 5-1 road win in Game 3.

Tampa Bay failed to follow that up though, losing 4-2 in Game 4, and that means they are now just one loss away from being eliminated.

The Lightning earned a postseason place by finishing second in the Atlantic Division standings with a 47-27-8 record.
