Montreal Canadiens Form & Team News

Montreal’s run to the semi-final has been full of surprises – they came back from the brink against Toronto to stun the Maple Leafs in Game 7. They then swept Winnipeg in four games.

They could not have asked for a much tougher test to face for a place in the Stanley Cup Finals though – they are taking on the bookmakers’ pick in Vegas.

If there was any uncertainty over the size of the challenge Game 1 showcased just how good the Canadiens will need to be. The Golden Knights won the game 4-1, ending Montreal’s seven-game win streak.

The Canadiens will look to bounce back in Game 2 but beating Vegas in Vegas is far from easy.

They may have to do it without Jeff Petry (hand) and Jon Merrill (undisclosed) because the pair remain listed as day-to-day on the injury report.

They will definitely be without Jake Evans (concussion) and Jonathan Drouin (personal), who are both sidelined ‘indefinitely’.

Vegas Golden Knights Form & Team News

Vegas won a marathon seven-game clash with Minnesota in round one and needed six games to upset Colorado in the last round.

They have made a fast start to this series though and are now riding a postseason hot streak that has seen them win five straight games and score a bunch of goals.

The Golden Knights stormed to a 4-1 victory in Game 1 and they have now averaged 4.2 goals per game over their past five matchups and an average win margin of 2.4 goals per game.

They continue to reel off pretty comfortable victories at home, so they will be feeling extremely confident going in to Game 2 on the home ice.

They will also be feeling pretty good about the injury report, which features no fresh faces after that Game 1 victory. Tomas Nosek (undisclosed) and Peyton Krebs (jaw) are both still day-to-day.
