Montreal Canadiens Form & Team News

Montreal’s run to the semi-final has been full of surprises – they came back from the brink against Toronto to stun the Maple Leafs in Game 7 and then swept Winnipeg in four games.

They now have their sights set on an even bigger upset and they have already pulled off a couple of victories in this series with Vegas.

The Canadiens saw their seven-game win streak come to a shuddering halt as they lost 4-1 to the Golden Knights in Game 1, but they hit back in Games 2 & 3.

Carey Price made 29 saves as Montreal took Game 2, 3-2, and he then racked up a series-high 43 saves as the Canadiens against won 3-2 in Game 3.

However, he could not prevent a 2-1 in Game 4 that levelled the series ahead of the return to Vegas.

The good news for Montreal is that they have no fresh injury concerns with only Jake Evans (concussion) and Jonathan Drouin (personal) still listed on the report.

Vegas Golden Knights Form & Team News

Vegas won a marathon seven-game clash with Minnesota in round one and needed six games to upset Colorado in the last round.

They made a fast start to this series with Montreal though, storming to a 4-1 victory in Game 1 on the home ice, but they have not won since.

The Golden Knights went into Game 2 averaging 4.2 goals per game over their previous five matchups, while averaging a win margin of 2.4 goals per game.

However, they lost their clinical edge and came up against some stubborn play from the Montreal goalie in Game 2, resulting in a 3-2 loss.

They then dropped Game 3 by the same score after a Marc-Andre Fleury mistake cost them dear, but they bounced back to scrape a 2-1 in Game 4 to level the series before returning home.

They may be without Chandler Stephenson (upper body) and Peyton Krebs (jaw) for Game 5. They remain listed as day-to-day.
